I sort of have opinions about TikTok and the ban, but not like everyone else...

I don’t know single person in the field that isn’t a tad paranoid. But guess what? Being paranoid, if you channel it into being productive in preparing for and avoiding risk, is a good thing.

If I were Google, relying on HTTP protocol's ubiquity, I would at least consider naming a big project of mine with the same name as another protocol who's still fringe enough, just to overshadow it to death in SERPs and add confusion about it.

Workday down, Cloudflare API down. Both say due to a power outage in their datacenter. Hmmmmm.

It's not like I didn't know full well that it was gonna happen, but boy howdy is saying any nice thing about Large Internet Company on Mastodon quite the exercise.

I'm just another noodle on the internet - what do I know?

But perhaps if any mention of a mainstream anything invites You're Doing it Wrong and you Should Feel Bad About Your Opinions as responses by default... maybe this place isn't so fun.

@TechConnectify something I found strangely missing in this crowd of folks shaking fists at Google was any mention of the infinite scroll additives of YT Shorts. jokes aside, that was a big reason I started interacting with YT through RSS.

I don’t think folks like to admit how much time they lose to the addiction that is Shorts. Now if YT were a Chinese company I’m sure they would be much hand wringing about YT Shorts.

Hmmm - this morning I txt'd a family member explaining how to enable Roaming on their phone as they were on holiday with no apparent data.

We use the same provider and I mentioned it by name a couple of times in the message.

I just received an email from the provider explaining the Roaming deals they have available.

While I know SMS isn't private by any means I didn't expect this kind of intrusion.

Coincidence you say?

If it was holiday season maybe, but it's nearly November!

@TechConnectify are you aware of any high brightness (100W+) LED bulbs (A19, A21) which also have high CRI (95+)?

thomasfuchs,

@TechConnectify Maybe the weirdly slow improvements of CRI over time is Big Bulb conspiring so they can sell us new slightly better bulbs each year

The only reason to have is to make it easy for a relatively small alien invasion force to take over the planet.

The aliens need only control the humans at the receiving end of the wealth/power funnels.

Tinfoil hat thought, the UFO congressional hearing and the room temperature superconductor news landing so close to each other may not be a coincidence. Room temperature superconductors might be used in UFO "antigravity" devices, and so independent publishing of relevant research might make disclosure less impactful (e.g. the tech is already out there).
