The coastal region after Antalya was not only full of operating hotels and resorts, but also many empty and completely rundown facilities. The same situation existed with plantations and greenhouses, on one side there were many new, modern ones, and on the other side dilapidated nostalgic glass greenhouses... - and a stranded submarine?! - 😂
The ruins of the A-Listed Lennox Castle, just to the north of Glasgow. Designed by David Hamilton in a Normal Castle style, it was built in the 1830s for John Lennox Kincaid. In 1927, the estate was purchased by the Glasgow Corporation and turned into a residential hospital for people with learning disabilities, with the castle itself being used as the nurses' home.
The ruins of Dundyvan Parish Church in Coatbridge to the east of Glasgow. Designed by Alexander Cullen in a Gothic revival style with an unusual crown tower topped by a spire, this church was built in 1905.
Dundyvan Parish Church has lain empty since at least the early 1990s and since then has suffered the usual series of fires, roof collapse and decay so frequently associated with unused buildings in Scotland. An application to partially demolish it was approved around 2020, but no work as begun on it. It's B-Listed and considered to be at high risk of being lost.
The Central Admissions Block of Hartwood Hospital near Shotts to the east of Glasgow.
Designed by J.L. Murray in an imposing Scots Baronial style, it opened in 1895 as the Lanark District Asylum.
The hospital closed in 1998 and it fell into disuse. This was followed by the inevitable fires in 2004 and 2016, leaving the building badly damaged and at risk of being lost.
The minimalistic aspect of this scene within an abandoned building. I wish I knew what this room was used for. I couldn't figure it out when I was visiting the place. And that is the whole idea of doing urbex! #urbex#urbexphotography#urbanexploration#abandonedbuilding#abandoned
