The former Saint Vincent Parish Church on Kent Road in Glasgow looking wonderful amongst the cherry blossoms. Designed by Alexander Wall in a Gothic style, it was built in 1864.

The former James Buchanan and Company warehouse on Washington Street in Glasgow. Designed by A. Gardner in 1897, with additions by H.E. Clifford in 1907, at the time it was built it was the largest bonded whisky warehouse in the world. It's now used as a business centre.

The former Washington Street Public School in Glasgow. Designed by Henry E. Clifford and built in 1889, it was home to Anderston Primary School until the Kingston Bridge was built in the 1970s. One of the on-ramps for the bridge passes within a few metres of the upper floors of the building, and it now lies empty with its playground used as a car park.

Love this corner turret and dome on James Salmon and J. Gaff Gillespie's 1899 Glasgow Style Savings Bank building on Argyle Street in thr Anderston area of Glasgow.

An 1860s tenement on Argyle Street in Glasgow. One of the few surviving buildings from old Anderston, it's now surrounded by newer developments, including the M8 Motorway which cuts Anderston in two.

James Sellars' 1870s former furniture factory building on Kent Road in the Anderston area of Glasgow. It was built for the cabinetmakers Wylie and Lochhead.

Newer buildings surrounding one of the very few old ones left standing along the Anderston section of Argyle Street. It's the rather wonderful Art Nouveau style Glasgow Savings Bank building designed by James Salmon and J. Gaff Gillespie, and built in 1899.

This evening's sunset over Anderston in Glasgow was brief, but dramatic!

I love the curved corner of this tenement building on Arygle Street in the west end of Glasgow. It's a small and simple feature and there was no need for the architect to do this, but it adds so much to the character of both the building and the local area.

With all the snow around in Glasgow at the moment, it's good to see that Charles Rennie MacKintosh has found himself a hat!

Another shot from yesterday's rather spectacular sunrise over Glasgow. This one was taken looking southeast across the Clyde at Anderston.

Good morning, Glasgow. If the sunrise over Anderston is anything to go by, it looks like we might be in for a rather nice Autumnal day today.

Former office of Robert Brown and Co, whisky exporters and wine and cognac importers on Washington Street in the Anderston area of Glasgow. Designed by Archibald Stodart in an 17th Century Scottish style, it was built as an office in 1893 along with the attached storehouse The second storey was probably used a tasting room for the firm's clients to allow them to taste the products it dealt in.

The entrance to the northern section of the W.P. Lowrie and Co. bonded warehouse on Washington Street in the Anderston area of Glasgow. It was designed by A.V. Gardner in a Renaissance style and was built in 1897.

Together with the neighbouring southern section, built in 1907, it was claimed to be the largest bonded warehouse in the world at the time of construction.

The cart entrance to the old Crown Mill on Washington Street in the Anderston Area of Glasgow. This Italianate building was constructed in 1862, but all that is now left is the boarded up ground floor. However, you can still see traces of the company's name as a ghost sign above the door.

This, I think, is a Hyatt Patent Vault Light. Vault or Cellar Lights were used to help passively bring light into cellars and other rooms below street level before electric lights became common. This was done using specially designed lenses or prisms.

While the square Hayward Prismatic Pavement Lights (patented in 1871) can still be found across Glasgow, Hyatt Lights with their round lenses are an older version, being patented in 1845, and are much rarer.

In fact, the 1854 tobacco warehouse on James Watt Street in Anderston where I took this picture is the only place I've seen them so far in the city.

I love these gothic style air vents on Saint Patrick's Church in the Anderston area of Glasgow. The church itself was designed by P.P. Pugin and was built in 1898.
