My #cantaloupe#seedlings.
Hopefully I'll get more than 2 cantaloupes this year. Last year was my first time trying to grow cantaloupes. Most of them failed due to neglect. I was too stressed/overwhelmed after my Dad died from long covid cardiac arrest early last June - many of my plants didn't make it.
Here's why Canada's cantaloupe crisis is still going strong after 6 weeks
Salmonella outbreaks are difficult to track and the fruit has a long shelf life
Remember that #Mystery#Plant I've been watching for the last several months?
I didn't plant it; I don't know where it came from; but I've long suspected it sprouted from the seed of a grocery store #cantaloupe, probably carried here by a bird who found it in the trash.
Here is the fully ripened fruit. Taste test confirms it is a cantaloupe.
Small and mostly seeds. A waste of #garden space. That's why you don't plant seeds from #hybrids.
