Der Große Breitrüssler (Platyrhinus resinosus) gehört zu der Käferfamilie der Breitrüssler. Seine Larven entwickeln sich in weißfaulem, noch hartem Holz oder in Pilzen.
A post appreciating the weevil Liparus coronatus. Apparently this is not terribly common, but I seem to live in an area where it's locally frequent, as this is the second one I've seen in 2 months? Apparently it likes plants in the Apiaceae (which might explain why I keep finding it in arable/horticultural environments where Apiaceae commonly form part of the margin flora?). Need to learn more about its life-history and behaviour! #Weevil#Coleoptera#NaturalHistory#KentishInsects
I found this guy (and it is a male) on the footpath walking into work yesterday and thought it would make an excellent #weevilwednesday . It is a Phalidura (or Amycterus). When I first found one of these I had no idea they existed, the giant forceps make it look like it is some monstrous hybrid between a beetle and an earwig. Only the males have them, I have no idea how they use them. #AustralianWildlife#Coleoptera
One summer day, in the Stuttgart forest, I saw this beautiful beetle (Dorcus paralelolipipedus) walking on a dead tree. Despite the appearance of their jaws, they are completely harmless. This species is widespread in Europe and can be found in many countries. Only on that occasion I was lucky enough to see it, and it posed for some photos.
Due to the displacement of its habitat and human use of forests, the beetle is increasingly threatened and there is a possibility that it may disappear from the Earth in the future. #nature#myphotography#naturephotography#dorcus#coleoptera #careandprotect
Der Kleine Uferläufer (Elaphrus riparius) lebt räuberisch in feuchten Gebieten an schlammigen, vegetationsarmen Ufern. In meinen Augen ist er ein wahres Schmuckstück!
RT by @Plants_EFSA: Weevil, Curculio sp. Weevils with a particularly long snout look like they come from another world. Look closely, they live among us!
