An excellent question! I have had quite a few controllers and they have all varied in length of existence. I have had some die in a few months and I have had some that last a year or two. In my opinion it’s luck, the games you play, the location where you keep it and the quality of the controller. Every gamer will probably have their own opinions. Haha. I’ve heard stories of some lasting a few days. 😬

Example of why the 3DConnexion SpaceMouse is essential imho for 3D design. It feels like you're flying through space around the very things you're creating, fluidly gliding from one area to the next.

Personally, I would've used a output since the flat connector is far slimmer than the controller port, but then that would've likely required some IC to see which buttons are pressed - putting negligible cost in the controller to higher cost on the mainboard, so yeah, that's understandable...
