A much more nuanced examination of racial barriers in cycling for Black athletes. Among them & in line with my research, success of Black cyclists was not received as a watershed. Instead, they faced even greater obstacles as a result of Taylor, et al. successes.
Breaking Away & American Flyers introduced cycling to the American mainstream in the 1980s every bit as much as the successes of LeMond, Hampsten, Phinney, et al.

The Glasgow Transport Museum's Infinite Velodrome. This is a metal Möbius Strip hanging from the ceiling of Zaha Hadid's magnificent Riverside Museum building displaying all sorts of bicycles from different eras of cycling.

Das eigentliche Ziel meiner Tour mit #Rennrad galt der #Fahrradgeschichte bzw. #CyclingHistory und lag in Swalmen: Das Denkmal im nach ihm benannten Park für Mathieu Cordang, genannt "Recordang", einem niederländischen Radrennfahrer, der um die Jahrhundertwende vom 19. zum 20. Jahrhundert einen beeindruckenden Palmares hinlegte (u.a.: Stundenweltrekord, 2. bei Paris-Roubaix, olympisches Gold, uvm.), und der hier in Swalmen 1942 starb:

#OnThisDay, 3 Jun 1924, Alfonsina Strada crosses the finish line of the Giro d'Italia. She remains the only woman to have officially ridden a Grand Tour.
At one point she had been disqualified on time grounds but was allowed to continue without the option of prizes. She finished ahead of the lantern rouge (the last cyclist to finish).
