This is rad! Goodbye playing on my phone when I'm stuck somewhere and bored. Hello reading (ok, and playing) on my PDA when I'm stuck somewhere and bored.
P.S. I just tried to slide my PDA stylus into the headphone jack of my cellphone. In my defense the headphone jack is in roughly the same location as the stylus slot on the PDA.
Plucker is pretty slick stuff once you get good sources to feed it. It's like a little offline window into the web content you want to read, nicely formatted for the PDA screen. I love how it converts and dithers the images for the monochrome display too.
I've got a proof of concept working for converting a #gemini page and the links contained on that page to simple html and then feed that into plucker so you can browse for instance an aggregated gemini feed page of all the recent posts on the PDA in the same fashion as if they were websites you sent to plucker. A comitium page, antenna, etc.
#Gemini is cool but I think it is too restrictive and it needs a specific format.
IMHO, #markdown ( #CommonMark ) over http/https would be very efficient.
Markdown is really a common format for content and there many tools able to manage.
It's easy to put md files on an existing http server.
I've not found a really easy to use markdown extension for Firefox or Chromium. I don"t know if there are browsers that render mardown natively ??
The entire point behind the protocol is to prevent further complication. Hosting some random server that wants to make #Gemini dynamic or frilly will luckily never be a part of Gemini - and it's sticking to its guns, which is nice.
Admittedly, I abandoned it pretty fast, as I didn't develop a habit of making journals, it's a "me" thing. But if I'd ever find myself wanting to type into an empty wall, it would be Gemini first and my blog second (which I don't even have yet).
Cześć, jestem Kuba. Jestem frontend deweloperem. Głównie sci-fi i fantasy, czasem jakiś reportaż, ten ostatni głównie książkowo.
po dłuuuugiej przerwie powracam z nową domeną i nową energią, by eksplorować universum #Gemini! zapisujcie mnie w zakładkach Amfory, Lagrange i innych klientów naszego ulubionego protokołu!

That took a frustrating amount of time to get my https://d.moonfire.us and https://fedran.com working on Woodpecker CI again (for the first time for Fedran's). I ended up removing the built-in clone Git plugin and switched to doing it via an Alpine image. (I got the "cannot enter user name" bug I get periodically and never found a consistent way to fix.)
Switch from SSH-based Git cloning to HTTPS. I was trying to be SSH-only because of vague hopes of eventually getting to like SourceHut (which doesn't allow HTTP-based clones).
But, I also managed to stop using my custom NixOS docker image and used nixpkgs/nix-flakes instead, though I had to jump through a couple uncomfortable hoops to make that work.
But, it's working which means, I have a now page for my blog and Fedran should poke Antenna on Gemini when I post new chapters.
