I am experimenting with a new #stitching technique for our new prototype GLoA E-reader case covers. I have fallen in love with the results. Still can’t believe this is #3dprinted plastics! #lasercut leather and hand stitched. Needs some minor adjustments but progress is good.

Since some of you seem to enjoy these tessellation experiments, here's an old projection mapping installation project of mine for which I combined similar patterns with digital fabrication (laser cutting & cutting plotters) to produce two Victorian-style room dividers with 620 handfolded paper cones, which were then used as 3D projection surface. Visitors could use an iPad app, housed in a small dolly table (also laser cut), to produce custom animated patterns which were then projected onto the paper cones...

Cork icosahedron. Displayed here on a zebrawood reliquary. I keep thinking of different materials for the polyhedra.

I see a lot of icosahedra with numbers on the faces. I thought I would try engraving one of the wooden ones with those. I didn’t want it to be too plain. So, I made some knotwork to go around the numbers.

A small (~6cm / 2.25”) icosahedron whose wooden faces are engraved with a Celtic knot border surrounding numbers like a 20-sided die sits on an ornate 3-legged wooden stand.

Behold: instructions for the iris mechanism! https://ko-fi.com/s/3f728f6dba

I wanted to have a new design together with publicly available instructions before next week's webinar. I'd love to see what other people do with it!

An old printing press that used to belong to the local paper, the Royston Crow, and printed their very first edition in 1855, is being used today with some laser cut negatives I made for the local museum for their 40th anniversary.

It’s come out great, and super pleased with the juxtaposition of the new and old technology.

The printing press with the operators around it. There are lots of templates with colored paints on them.
The negative printing template for the press. It reads “Royston Museum” backwards and has a chequered logo.
A printed bag from the previous template.

I designed this piece in Rhinoceros and laser cut it out of 1/8" plywood. It measures about 36" x 24". It's called Reef #1 (I expect there will be more reef designs).

@alecdanaher Very nice! And great execution with all the pieces of wood.

alecdanaher,

@py5coding Thank you!

I think I just started to work on a new clock :)

avernois,

pcb designed and ordered :)
I know the routing is bad, I went fast just to test the idea.
I'll try to do better on the next iteration :) (there is always a second iteration with pcb design :)

Here's my daily printmaking update.

We will be bringing some of these wooden harbour scenes to Craft Festival Cheltenham at the weekend!

I am very proud of them even if they haven't sold that well. They pretty much went as I planned, the five screen printed colours all lined up nicely and the colours showed up against the plywood.

Happy , heres a coffin I designed in for mini and dice I made for sale. Great gift for that party member who just wont stop jumping into holes they shouldn't.

Yes, the choice of rose dice are inspired by the song Kiss From A Rose by Seal, and yes, the dice are ordered from lowest to highest number of sides, everyone does this its very normal.

A lasercut coffin box, open, revealing the laser cut finger joints and dice in cut pockets inside. The dice are clear with pink roses and green numbers. The hand holding it all looks super weird.

I cleaned the and Lucy for and placed him inside our "new" outdoor light (vintage 1965 lantern with a DIY bracket and wired up for mains supply instead of a petroleum lantern).

Lantern at daylight. It is bolted to a bracket that mounts it to the wall. The lantern is black and features a small chimney. Windows are frosted glass. The bracket is mounted with shiny brass screws.

Out on the morning dog walk and came across this trash can with a bunch of clearly laser cut plywood and acrylic scraps.

Going to have to find away to introduce myself. 😁

@NedMan Maybe the way is to invite them to the maker space? It's pretty awesome...
