Today #OnTheBench is a sampler pack of smol motors and linear actuators with a paint vial for scale. I'm working on a smol mechatronic body commission and thank goodness for the toy and phone industry. The power, durability, and speed available in these little packages is light years ahead of what was available (outside of infinite budget projects like defence) a decade ago. #miniatures#mechatronics
Ok, here's where my head is on the topic of an open vlogger's camera. I've designed a shell that will fit a variety of SBCs, sensor & lens combos, custom input systems, power sources, and rear display panels. The FreeCAD source file is to a large extent parametrically driven so that the shell can be rearranged for different dimensions without too much fuss. The idea is to take care of the fiddly camera bits and make it easily hackable for personal preferences. #mdc#openHardware#FreeCAD
I started a Hackaday project to track what I'm certain will be sporadic progress on this camera. I named it "My Dang Camera" (#mdc) because I enjoy open hardware that I own instead of the physical projections of hypercorps into my life. It's all mine mine mine! 😺

Finally cracking open my Arduino learner's kit and getting started on the basics of learning how to program with it. Hoping to use it as the brain for my attempt at a bat animatronic. No promises that it'll be ready for halloween, but heck, Imma try anyway!
I just realised that I'm not really that interested in #robotics, with all the sensors, data processing, behaviors and control loops — I'm building robots because I'm into #mechatronics — making stuff move in cool ways, but not necessarily doing anything useful.
