sm i downloading an Overwatch competitive match tracker for Season 8? yeah. lol but i want to take at least one season seriously and see where I end up, even if I can't get back to where I was in OW1.
anyway, i managed to end season 7 two ranks higher than where i started, so that's nice, and met my last goal of reducing deaths per 10 min to 5 (it's hovering around 4.95 atm)
Season 8 goals: Complete at least 100 comp matches queued as tank (I managed 69 games this past season, but didn't start playing regularly until the last 25 days, so I think I should hit that with a full season ahead)
STOP USING MICRO-MISSLES EARLY now that I pay more attention to my ability usage (but not always...) it's embarrassing how often i end up not killing something b/c i used missiles too early and too far away to get much value from them ;o;
Stop fishing for kills with Self-Destruct and get better value from it by treating it as a second life. I used to do this but the lure of a potential 5K is too strong (I need to realize i am not going to get E-Z 5Ks in competitive lol)
Trying not to focus on too many things at once. It's an easy way to get frustrated and burnout imo. #overwatch2

Finally unlocked Kiriko and found out she sucks :blobcatfearful:
It could be a skill issue on my end, but she moves slow compared to other players, I had trouble even getting to them to heal them, and when I did I was pratically a sitting duck and died quick.
Compared to other support characters, Moira does a lot of damage and has a skill to escape, Mercy is hard to hit when she's flying and can heal herself, Lucio and Zenyata heal automatically, I think she needs buffs
I have finally ranked in all 3 roles in #Overwatch2! Pretty rubbish, but something to build on.
Tank: bronze 3 (mainly D.va with some Orisa & Ram)
Damage: bronze 2 (mostly Ashe/S76 with some Bastion/Sombra)
Support: silver 3 (used to play Moira & Zen but recently mostly Ana & Kiriko)
I’ve been playing support since the start of OW2, picked up dps a couple of seasons ago and started playing tank this season.
Current competitive #overwatch2 comp progress: Went 5-4 on my last set, but this is still enough to get me ranked "higher than 89% of players in this division." Hopefully my next card will end with a rank increase, but I'm trying not to focus on that too much. No need to manufacture anxiety for myself rn ^^
Reflecting on a few recent matches:
Definitely did not meet my goal of "5 deaths or less" in this game :blobcatupsidedown: tbf, the first round both teams played like it was deathmatch, and I, um, turbofed when the opposing DPS swapped to Bastion. I played more conservatively in the overtime rounds, that and a hard carry from our Baptiste player meant we nearly completed the map in the second attack round and full held on the defense :blobcattoot:
First competitive game with no deaths! Though the opposing team clearly had no idea how D.va's Defense Matrix works, and that in a 1v1 Kiriko can beat most DPS...so I can't really say it's because I played well. 💀
Ran into a trio with matching gamertags lol. Since making alt accounts is pretty easy it's not uncommon to see groups with goofy tags. Wonder if they're implying something with this uh....meat theme? 🤭
I did a little math this morning and figured out my #Overwatch2 comp win rates. Since Season 2 (the first season I can get stats on), I have a 52% win rate on support, 55% as a tank, and 26% as a DPS. I don't think it's necessarily a skill issue with DPS, as my stats don't look awful. I think it's that the nature of the game puts more impact on the support and tank roles and gives good players more of a chance to materially impact the results. Good stats on DPS are useless if the team isn't advancing the objective.
In other games--I'm making a dedicated effort to climb ladder on D.va in solo queue. It's been going pretty good so far (70% winrate!) but I also haven't been in many matches above my rank which is the real test. I don't know what my ceiling is (probably not very high) but I feel like I can at least make Gold 1....
I was Platinum in OW1 but in OW2 I've dropped to Silver 3 playing with my sister and BIL. It's not that they're bad but rather, my brother-in-law and I can never agree on who to focus first (my BIL always wants to kill the tank, I always go for the supports) so we never coordinate well and then my poor sister on support is stuck trying to heal two players who are doing different things... 💢 I'm still playing with them just not on tank 😅
My current focus is to bring down my deaths per 10min below 5 and stop wasting micro-missiles since I just use 'em off cooldown which is dumb. There's about 20 days left in this competitive season and I'm trying to get at least one comp match in every day, so hopefully I'll be in a better place by the end of the year. #overwatch2

Team USA got absolutely rolled by Team China, but it was still exciting to watch. I think that speaks to how exciting high-level dive compositions are in Overwatch...
Team Korea actually called Team USA's Sigma/Bastion comp "boring" lmaoooooooo
MAUGA ORIGIN GOES FUCKIN HARD, OW finally has the "excited to be irredeemable evil" character it's been missing. I guess Moira falls into that category too, but everyone else is either nobly evil, tortured evil, or Not Actually evil.
