#PeriodPoverty—lack of access to resources & education linked to #MenstrualHealth & hygiene, including essential items like period products, washing facilities & proper waste management—is a pressing concern in #India. It can be traced back to #patriarchal notions that label #menstruation as impure/dirty, restricting the freedom of those who menstruate during periods.
End Period Poverty: Make Menstrual Products Freely Available Across the UK
As a woman living in the UK, I have personally experienced the financial burden of having to purchase period products every month. It is disheartening to think that many women and girls face similar struggles, unable to afford these essential items. Therefore, I am starting this petition to advocate for menstrual equality
I am happy to share that @europarl_en is launching a pilot project of free period products for visitors.
Period products as intuitively essential and important as toilet paper, soap or hand towels, and should therefore be made as readily available.
We believe that menstrual security should be a collective issue. It is a question of dignity, solidarity, and health!
