Another one of my favorites from my owl photo trip several years ago. Salton Sea area. Burrow owls are such characters.

Always a little “ha ha, in the sad way" to see there are still national-level sports teams that have yet to make the same transition my old high school did, about checks notes 20+ years ago?

If a podunk region of New England can go from "Redskins" to “Redhawks” without imploding*, you have to wonder why teams like the Chiefs are still dragging their feet.

  • sure, there was tons of anguish at the time, because white supremacy, but the correct decision prevailed!

It’s the day to celebrate the superb owls! All owls 🦉 are superb but here are some local favourites.

I love the whimsical terms of venery for groups of animals and have an ongoing series of prints. For my parliament of owls I made two columns of local owls - you can decide for yourself which are the government an which the loyal opposition in this parliament!

The snowy owl, a SUPERB OWL, is the official bird of the province of Québec, here with their official tree the yellow birch on my hand-carved map of Québec in this linocut.

The snowy owl (Bubo scandiacus) is found throughout the circumpolar regions. They nest in arctic regions (including the northermost tip of Québec), but range throughout much of Canada when they are not breeding. A beautiful owl!
