As in many other areas in Europe, it was really pouring down here in the mountains today and I wasn't sure if I should venture out 🌧️🌧️🌧️ But in the end I took advantage of a brief rain-free slot and ran my usual 15km/600m EG
The small streams in the forest have a lot more water than normal and even my Salomon GoreTex shoes were completely wet by the end. But it was absolutely perfect for #running at around 10°C
My morning run today, before it started pouring down 🌦️
Not the fastest pace for 16km and +600m EG, but it's only Tuesday and I didn't want to push me too hard today. Apart from the #running it's just amazing how nature almost seems to explode with life. Spring time at it's best in the mountains around where I live.
Today I ran the 25km distance at the #Innsbruck#IATF and was quite satisfied overall. Last yr I found it very challenging due to the heat at the time, but today it was great #TrailRunning with 1300 runners of the same distance.
The 800m of elev gain were manageable, and at the next event in August I will try to break the 1800m
And I noticed that as a 52yo runner, I've already been classified as a senior ... that escalated quickly ...
All because I'll be running a 25km/800m elev. gain HM at the #Innsbruck Alpine #TrailRun Festival on Sat. Last year I ran the same event and that wasn't so good because the weather was very hot and I started off too fast, and by the end the hammer was about to knock me down.
But this year it should be better, or quite the opposite, as snow is expected to get close to the max elev of the course.
An early morning run before the predicted storm breaks out with speeds of more than 100 km/h.
And just in time for the #Easter holidays, a bit of a headache and a slight sore throat did not exactly contribute to my enjoyment.
But apart from that, it was a really nice 15 km run in beautiful spring weather. My #Garmin keeps telling me that my hill endurance keeps improving, so the regular almost 600m elevation gain seem to be paying off
A 13km #trailRun late Sunday afternoon in almost spring-like conditions at around 10°C.
My plan is to increase my regular #running distance from 10km/300m elevation gain to around 15km/500m elevation gain and run a pure fun HM at least once a month. This should help me prepare for the 35km/1800m #trailRunning event I intend to participate in May.
It's hard to describe how much I love #running in winter!
Today is a particularly beautiful day and there's simply no better place to be than outside, like on my morning 12km run at about -10°C. Winter magic doing its wonders ❄️
#TrailRunning in the forest is now a little adventure, because it's inevitable to turn into a snowman sooner or later⛄ And no chance of running fast, because sooner or later you get stuck in deep snow.
We got heaps of snow during the night and it's still coming down in large quantities. Not even the roads are passable at the moment, let alone any trails.
So it's down to shoveling snow today, which is also some form of sport 🏋️♂️
The temperatures have dropped significantly in the last few days and winter is clearly just around the corner! Higher up in the mountains there's already a lot of snow in some parts, but at my alt of around 1000m it's only a few centimeters for the time being.
I've learned to love #running in these conditions, I find the cold much more pleasant than the heat!
My usual 10km #TrailRunning route just below freezing at around -2°C.
My last trail run before I leave for #Chicago tomorrow and I'm really looking forward to #running the #HotChoclateRun there on Sunday and then next week to #KubeCon!!
The storm a few days ago ended with snow on the mountains, as you can see on the peaks of the Nordkette above Innsbruck are already covered in snow ... Winter is just around the corner ⛷️
Otherwise a nice 12km run at about 6°C, long sleeves come in very handy already.
Right now it's a little bit windy up where I live, with speeds up to 90kmh/55mph and #running is a mix between fun and extremely exhausting, when the wind almost blows you off the trail.
Well, and at the end you have a completely different hairstyle than at the beginning 😀
Unfortunately, at such speeds, running on the forest trails is out of the question, because there is a real danger of being hit by breaking trees.
Nothing better than when the kids decide that their #TrailRunning dad isn't completely crazy but at instead can be persuaded to run along, at least occasionally 😀
And so it turned out to be a nice 10km evening trail run in really beautiful autumn light with my oldest son. Temps around 16°C, so almost perfect #running conditions.
#GoodMorningMastodon! As expected, my legs and shoulders are a bit sore from yesterday. But it feels good 🙂
I'll have a relaxed Sunday I guess. But first I'll finish my #coffee. Enjoy your day with this shot from yesterday's #mtb tour.
