A 13 yo in my life LOVES the series. Does anyone have any modern readalike suggestions? I know a bunch from around the time that series came out but I don't know what the newer diverse ones are out if there are any?

Got a notification this morning that Mass. DPH turned off the MassNotify COVID-19 exposure notifications on my phone. Shout out to the DMV agent who, when my mom said no to voter registration, looked her dead in the eye and said, "They're going to take away your grandchildren's rights, you need to register." and now my mom is finally registered to vote.

What I have learned after giving and getting critiques for more than a decade: It is very, very important to give writers positive feedback so that they know what they did right.

Do not focus solely on "being honest with them so they can fix it" even if they ask for that. Most people are not good judges of their own work, so if they don't know what they've done right, or what their strengths are, they can't know what parts of the work were worth preserving (or pushing further).
