An interesting fact I learned is that internal combustion engines are so inefficient that you could charge an average electric vehicle using a coal powerplant, and even with all the energy lost to transformers, power lines, charging, etc, it'd still be more efficient than an average gas powered car, even if you ignore the entire petroleum refinement and distribution process.

What's with all the YouTubers publishing books lately? Isn't this a video platform?

Don't get me wrong. I don't want to imply no YouTuber can write. But what are the chances all those books are actually good?

And I just can't help it, the constant book plugs really start to get on my nerves, maybe even more than sponsor ads for mediocre mobile games.

This is the airport in #Frankfurt during last nights heavy thunderstorms.

Friends living in Frankfurt just told me, that they've never seen anything like this for decades. Lightning strikes every 5 seconds or so. Crazy!

And this my friends will become the new norm during this #climatecrisis and it scares the living daylight out of me!

Ich finde ja, eine #Spaltung ist die beste Option für #DieLinke. Was will eine linke Partei mit Wagenknecht und den ganzen andern Faschos, Kriegstreibern und Putinverstehern? Schmeißt die raus und lasst sie mit der #noAfD konkurrieren.

Die Linke sollte die Gelegenheit für eine (insbesondere außenpolitische) Rundumerneuerung nutzen. Nur so kann sie ihre Rolle im politischen Spektrum noch spielen.

Ten years ago, when we asked the content industry to stop criminalizing consumers for things like #filesharing, most creators jumped to the defense of their corporate overlords.

Today, the same creators are on strike to oppose being exploited by the same corporate overlords.

if you use Linux on your personal computer: what do you like about it?

I used to be super into customizing my window manager, but now I mostly like that it's so easy to install software, and that the environment is the same as on a Linux server

(please no arguing about whether people "should" use Linux on their personal computers, I'm just curious about why you personally like it)

Wie wäre es eigentlich, wenn man die Grenze beim #Elterngeld daran festmachen würde, wie viel das Haushaltseinkommen WÄHREND des Bezugs von Elterngeld ist, nicht davor?

Ein Paar mit einer Einkommensverteilung von 110k+38k=148k kann auf das kleine Einkommen verzichten, hat 100k und kriegt 12 Monate Elterngeld, während ein Paar mit 76k+76k=152k das Halbe Einkommen verliert und 0 Komma gar kriegt.

Es kann doch echt nicht sein, dass man für Einkommensgleichheit auch noch bestraft wird.

Ich weiß, ich mach mich bestimmt super unbeliebt: Aber die Kürzung der Grenze beim #Elterngeld ist großer Scheiß. Für Eltern mit annähernd gleichen Einkommen sind das an der Grenze ca. 30% des Einkommens in der Elternzeit, dass da ad hoc wegbricht.

Ich hab mich nie beschwert wenn hohe Einkommen stärker belastet werden. Oder kinderlose. Aber jetzt unerwartet nächstes Jahr mit 30% weniger Einkommen dazustehen, ist ganz großer Mist.
