    @schwa Hah, I can believe it. You should see how bad Porsche software is compared to all their engineering in drive trains and suspension! That said, the camera companies have had longer to come the realization about how important software is.

    @schwa I love the fact that you can get photos like this from trains in Japan. I have some video shot through the front window from our day trip out to Kaamkura last time we were there. Always worth getting in the front car on these local trains just for this opportunity.

    @schwa That was exactly my thought when I saw a video promoting a confetti cannon app... what was sad was the confetti didn't land on surfaces - it just disappeared.

    One that glitter bombed a room and left every surface glittery (with no way to clean it off, even after rebooting) would be much more fun.

    This is cool, more new chargers for in

    These are 'slow' AC chargers up to 22kw (though most cars will do 7 or 11)

    50c/kwh, park for a few hours whilst shopping and leave with a nearly full battery

    Also contactless card payment on the charger, no account needed!

    Not every charger needs to be a 300kw one!

    @Rjdlandscapes Yes, this. Why do retail places in particular think that their customers need 150kW or 350kW chargers? I struggle to buy anything more than a coffee when using the 150kW chargers at our local Target store before the car is at 80+%

    I'd much prefer 40-50 7-11kW AC posts than the 6 150kW DC units they installed. More cars could charge, and I wouldn't feel like I was having to rush to get back to the car and unplug it.

    @Rjdlandscapes @sarahhbickerton 7kW gets you 20-30 miles of added range in most cars (& I assume electric motorcycles will be more efficient). That should be more than enough to replenish what was used driving there and back in most cases. Watch a movie and you'll be adding more than 50 miles of range from a simple, relatively cheap 7kW AC post.

    With only DC chargers I can't even think about charging while I eat or watch a movie.

    @sarahhbickerton @Rjdlandscapes I took a quick look at the Zero website and they're claiming over 100 miles at 70mph from a 15kWh battery - that's over double what most EVs get (and the city range is into double digits miles/kWh - those are numbers most EV car owners can only dream of).

    That battery should only take a couple of hours to charge to full on a 7kW charger too.

    On aero, you might have a worse drag coefficient than a car, but you have a smaller frontal area which is a big win.

    @sarahhbickerton @Rjdlandscapes That's a cool looking machine, and an amazing price!

    Oddly, I seem to get better efficiency at freeway speeds, but I wonder whether that is just everything has a chance to warm up better on longer drives. My best is 3.1 miles/kWh. I averaged just under 5 miles/kWh in a rented Ioniq 5 in the UK once; my most efficient EV experience to date. (My car wasn't really about efficiency though - more performance & experience!).

    @schwa Safe travels. Enjoy 10 hours of peace & quiet (and free drinks!). Slightly envious of you heading to Japan, but at least I now have both my kids wanting to go, so it may well happen soon. My oldest was only 18 months the last time I was there - he turns 13 this year, so it is time we went back.

    (I also want to return to Australia and get over to NZ, so many places to go…).

    @schwa I have random days when my Apple mouse & keyboard will disconnect & reconnect all the time. Other days, I see no issues at all.

    At one point, I was convinced it was related to whether I had use AirDrop to the Mac recently. Not so sure about that now, but I haven't been using that between the phone and MBP much either recently.

    Looking at the idea of getting a Canon R7 used, but interestingly they appear and disappear on MPB within 24 hours. Same doesn’t seem to be true of the R10. Haven’t looked at the more expensive ones (outside of my budget).

    I love how @wordpress just randomly decides to stop collecting stats. Then one day I'll open the dashboard and find it telling me to activate stats again. That invariably says it failed, but actually works (reloading the page shows it). But then there is a gap where it decided not to bother collecting information.

    Like below where apparently at some point on January 8/9 it just deactivated itself.

    @schwa Hmm, now that's something I never thought of. Might have to investigate further (right after I finish the 3D printed deer antlers my daughter requested for a science project!)
