    @LeviKornelsen It would depend on how likely I think "custom" means "more expensive" and how expensive the non-custom ones already are.

    If I want the color of Set A used in the mold for Set B, is that any extra work or cost than just making Set B in its regular color? Do they normally make 20 sets at once so custom orders mean not making 19 matching sets at the same time?

    I'm more likely to follow through if there's some indication of price: "Custom orders welcome (typically X%-Y% more)".

    I've been drinking smoothies this week with beetroot as a major component. It's quite a healthy concoction, but it does have side effects. One side effect in particular is called beeturia, which is fairly terrifying when you need to take a leak late at night and forgot that you've been drinking beet juice. I thought I was hemorrhaging internally until I remembered the beets.

    I have just peeled and diced a fresh raw beetroot.

    I feel like I should stare at my red hands in horror like people in movies who have just been forced to kill someone.

    Missing Farscape again.

    BrianBinh,

    @Tim_Eagon @epidiah Farscape was a great show packed with a lot of interesting characters and also John Crichton was there.

    @BrianBinh@dice.camp avatar

    @Tim_Eagon @epidiah I found him annoyingly inconsistent. He studied his whole life to prepare to be an astronaut to explore the universe. After 20 minutes on a planet full of dozens of intelligent alien species, he's whining that he wants to leave because he's bored like a kid being forced to wait at a shop while his mom tries on shoes.

    My kid keeps calling illusionists "illusioners", which honestly seems like a better name the more I hear it. It seems more active.

    Illusionist: "I have illusions. I made them."
    Illusioner: "I do illusions. I illude!"

    (Looking it up, "illusion" comes from the Latin "illudere" meaning "to mock". What do they mock with their phantasms and false sensory impressions? Reality, I guess.)

    Here's an assertion that should be fairly agreeable with a second of consideration:

    In a trad game, when it comes to how much gravity the game mechanics exert on play, the pull of the character sheet and the things the player imagines based on it is notably stronger than the great majority of of other rules. It's the dwarf star of rules gravity.

    image/jpeg

    BrianBinh,
    @BrianBinh@dice.camp avatar

    @LeviKornelsen It depends on how far back "trad" goes. In a 21st century "trad" game, the character sheet is a list of buttons you can push to make things happen. In a 20th century trad game, the sheet is a bunch of notes that help you remember who your character is and a bunch of loose parts that can be cobbled together to make things happen.

    "I cast 'Solve Problem'. Does that work?"
    Vs
    "I have a Grease spell, a wagon wheel, and 50' of rope. First, I will construct a rudimentary lathe..."

    BrianBinh,
    @BrianBinh@dice.camp avatar

    @LeviKornelsen If the character sheet is the dwarf star of rules gravity, GM rulings at the table are the dark matter.

    An idea from my life for your game:
    I once lived in an old Victorian house that was converted into apartments. One day, I looked up at the house from outside & noticed a window on the corner where my bathroom had a blank wall. I checked it out. The bathroom at the end of the hall was 5 feet shorter than the hall. Behind a set of shelves at the end of the hall, I found a door with the knob removed so the shelf would sit flush against it. There was a secret corner room!

    Re: Comic attached.

    As DM, I would rule:

    Think coverage and duration instead. Let's say a flask of holy water affects 1/16th of the lich, and it's holy energies are expended in that first round. Total immersion could thus potentially do a maximum of 16x the damage - and if the water kept changing each round, repeatedly.

    Buy your barrel (I will even give you a STEEP discount for "no flasks"), but: It's not just quantity, it's deployment.

    So think about that next!

    When the Immortal Necromancers took over, things in the kingdom actually improved quite a lot. There's something to be said for a government that really thinks long-term, and genuinely wants a large, healthy populace.

    Funerals changed, obviously, but less than you'd think. And the free daily milk rations "for healthy teeth and bones!" are admittedly a bit transparent, but hey.

    @LeviKornelsen I've never used an RSS because I don't know what it is. I've only seen it brought up by folks that assume previous familiarity. (I had the same problem with Banksy: I saw a sudden glut of articles about Banksy that all assumed readers already knew all about Banksy so no context was ever provided about who or what Banksy was and why it was newsworthy that there was a new bit of graffiti.)

    @LeviKornelsen @squishymage42 Getting rid of targeted ads means that you start seeing ads not meant for you. Sometimes I have to wonder who the intended audience was supposed to be or why it's even an ad.

    I was once served an ad on Facebook for military missile propulsion systems. Who the hell is buying rocket motors for explosive missiles from a Facebook ad?
