if anyone has advice on living with asthma please let me know, and I think it's finally time to start using the steroid inhaler my doctor gave me a prescription for when I was having constant attacks

(like a week after I got the prescription I stopped having issues for three or four months so I didn't bother to avoid the side effects)

I do love how many lore errors can be fixed by saying "....and that person is bad at geography/history" WHICH IS TOTALLY VALID.

When I was in high school in 2002 I knew someone who had only just learned Afghanistan is in the middle east, and not South America.

Otherwise smart people will make stupid mistakes like saying south when they mean north, or will do some quick mental math with dates and make a mistake.

(Yes, I've been reading someone doing a deep dive into MtG lore)

Arrrggg. Trying to order from Memory Express. To place my order they need the address I'm shipping to be on my credit card.

But I don't trust my apartment's delivery system, I've had multiple packages never arrive. So I want to ship it to someone I know with a house.

Their website claims you can add an address by phoning your credit card company, but when I do that they say you need to visit the store in person.

Fucking hell.

You know I wonder if not safe for bus would be a good replacement for not safe for work, since it's been pointed out that the standards of what's safe in different types of work very hugely.

I just want to be able to browse Mastodon on the bus and not worry about having stuff on my phone screen that will get me in trouble, so I can save looking at those pictures for at home.

I convinced my scientific society today to ask everyone who submits a video to their video library to license it under a creative Commons license, they'll make it way easier to use them for teaching and education in the future!

...and for some reason the paperback is $30‽

But it a return to the style she did for WotC which are the books of hers I've read and love https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s_9V9LlT5YI

for anyone just joining in I'm interviewing for a position as a staff crystalographer in charge of single Crystal powder small angle scattering and thin film crystallography at an American University, I don't know if I'd say dream job but it would essentially have me doing all the stuff that I absolutely love

I've been invited to do the multi-hour final interview for the position at Colorado State University!

I have never had an up to 4 hour job interview before so that's intimidating. (it is 2x 45 to 60 minute interviews and 2 x 30 to 45 minute interviews)

okay this is a long shot but the primary machinist at the university I work at is taking a 6-month leave of absence, so we're going to be hiring a replacement to try and cover the gap, so if you're a machinist in Canada who wants to live in Kelowna for 6 months, or know somebody like that just let me know and I'll pass the job application on to you

I have never had a headache this bad in my life, this is worse than my migraines it started at like 8:00 this morning and after two ibuprofen a little afternoon it's still not bearable, but at least it's slightly less deliberating. I have no idea what the f*** is wrong with me

I love the idea of more cycling infrastructure, by just can't imagine being tired all the time from biking up hills every time I want to go anywhere.

I'm kind of assuming that all the cycling advocates are from places that are generally flat, or who enjoy exercise.

but I would advocate for dedicated bus lanes, streetcars, etc to bypass gridlock before bike infrastructure.

I keep seeing posts about how people have way less followers here but way more interaction than on other sites.

I just really wish people would remember that they probably had that account on the other side for like a decade and a lot of their followers probably followed them at one point and had left. like I had 2000 followers but I would not be surprised if only two or three hundred of those, or less we're still active.

Ok,I can't edit it but I recently posted that bleach and ammonia will make chlorine gas, so don't do it. They actually make chloramine.

Chloramine will still kill you do not mix bleach and ammonia.

Trying to buy a keyboard online of driving me a bit nuts. The last time I bought one was in ~2006 because it still works perfectly.

But my boss has said to buy myself an ergonomic keyboard if I want one but not too go overboard so I'm looking around and there are like a million reasonable looking $50 ergonomic keyboard but I can't tell how they fit my hands.

Or I could get a used one of the Microsoft model I have now, but who knows what condition it will be in.

So I thought to check, and Green Earth was an Ontario chain, and shut down in 2019, citing that like a lot of mall-based businesses all of their customers were moving to online shopping: https://www.cbc.ca/news/business/green-earth-retail-closure-1.5058285

me, reading about space battleship across on Wikipedia

Wikipedia: The role was given to Leiji Matsumoto, had at an earlier stage declined an offer, due to his desire to have complete creative control.[7] Matsumoto overhauled the story, designing the titular ship after the IJN Yamato, its crew, and the Wave Motion Gun, which came from Sexaroid, an erotic comedy manga written by Matsumoto in 1968.[8]

TIL that the wave motion gun came from an erotic comedy

Where do people get statues these days? I collected them as a kid from a store in the mall called Green Earth and I'm wondering if anyone else remembers it and had recommendations on statues in a similar style

If anyone knows acoustics, I'd love to know why music sounds better when I put my Bluetooth speaker on the top shelf.

or for example why does it sound better when I turn it up but move it further away so it's perceptually the same volume then if I play it quietly and close to me.

I know it probably sounds better in the lab because it's all echoey and big

You know what we should bring back? Instant messenger buddy notifiers.

Signed: Someone who just sent a bunch of silly messages to someone over signal only to get a "can't talk, in therapy" response.

Witnessed: Someone who thinks Google Talk and Windows (MSN) Messenger had the messaging interface pretty much perfected in the early 2000s
