Ok, baby ground squirrels to the rescue showing the fox squirrels how lids work 🤗
They have an advantage in that they work together to solve problems, two or three little heads are better than one!

Here there are two babies, one eating nuts through the open lid and the second is getting nut crumbs through the hole that the fox squirrel made in the corner

I found a tiny wicker chest while cleaning. Squirrel sized. So of course I filled it with nuts and set it out. Little Bronson could not figure out how a lid works. I think he might be a little slow, sometimes I see him licking sticks and trying to eat tree pieces. In a surprise upset it was the baby ground squirrels who hopped up and demonstrated how to open a lid 🤗

Now Bronson is like Spider-Man spread eagle on the fence trying to chew a hole in the corner, which kind of worked, he got some walnut crumbs this way

@donray That’s very true! And little Bronson doesn’t have a mother around to guide him so he has to figure things out on his own unlike the baby ground squirrels.

Tibbetts Brook Park in Yonkers, NY was very, very loud with birdsong this morning. There was even a rare Yellow-throated Warbler high in an oak tree. But I didn't get many photos of birds.

Last night I went to BJs and bought a 5-lb bag of peanuts so maybe one day I'll be able to bribe one of two leucistic melanistic grey squirrels to let me take their photos. But I didn't see either of them this morning.

Little Crow looks fetching after a nice bath. I’m trying not to be upset with my crow friends but they have been up to some dastardly deeds 😒 not sure if Little Crow was involved or just the parent crows.
