Tibbetts Brook Park in Yonkers, NY was very, very loud with birdsong this morning. There was even a rare Yellow-throated Warbler high in an oak tree. But I didn't get many photos of birds.

Last night I went to BJs and bought a 5-lb bag of peanuts so maybe one day I'll be able to bribe one of two leucistic melanistic grey squirrels to let me take their photos. But I didn't see either of them this morning.

This female red squirrel has been around a lot lately spending time feeding. It’s the time of year that these reds will have young and her teets are quite pronounced. Hopefully, she has some offspring to look after back at the dray

@jimfrost I love my fox squirrel friends but those red squirrels are just another level of cuteness. Looking at this picture it’s unfathomable that some people dislike squirrels!

Little Crow looks fetching after a nice bath. I’m trying not to be upset with my crow friends but they have been up to some dastardly deeds 😒 not sure if Little Crow was involved or just the parent crows.

This baby does not want to share the peanuts with mom 😅

Now the mother has a peanut and the baby is spread eagle over the pot trying to prevent her from getting another one, still holding the peanut in its mouth

This squirrel child has the soul of an adventurer! I regret to inform you that he fell into the wheelbarrow full of rain water 😳 Don’t worry, he is fine - there was a roll of chicken wire in there to climb out on. Perhaps a valuable lesson learned? It doesn’t pay to be TOO adventurous!

Back on the ground the squirrel stands on its back feet in front of a white wrought iron bird cage, exploring the flowerbed
Now little squirrel is perched on top of a blue bucket investigating its contents
Squirrel is now in a wooden planter that has some glass wear stored in it. He was just about to snack on my lavender but thought better of it. This was a minute before taking the plunge in the wheelbarrow

Baby squirrel on left is trying to have some alone time but it’s just not working out 😄

Now the squirrels are nose to nose. Munching squirrel has one paw raised above the others head while the second squirrel tries to steal the nut from his mouth
Now munching squirrel has both paws on the others face, pushing it down
Oooo the second squirrel did not like that treatment. This is the split second where they are gathering their energy before rolling around in a ball in a “fight”
