While I'm on the subject of ; this episode is, by some margin, the podcast episode I've listened to more than any other. It's absolutely beautiful, to the point that it kind of killed my ability to make my own. Though I hold no animosity towards Nate for this.

That particular episode is so well put together, and so well written that I just listened to it over and over for a while. It also happened to coincide with a burnout I was going through having just moved house and started a new job - my first really physical job in 6/7 years.

I wanted to make more podcasts, I wanted them to be a success, but suddenly there was this Memory Palace episode that was everything I was trying to achieve, and nothing I made came anywhere close.

And I gave up.

I think there's something about this episode in particular that resonated with me perfectly.

It reminded me of nights spent under the covers, listening to the stations I could get on the tiny Sony FM radio I had, the volume dial just the barest fraction above off. The music wasn't cool, it wasn't groundbreaking. It was the likes of Roxette, or Belinda Carlisle. But it was a voice in the dark, keeping me company at a time when sleep eluded me.

Just been reading an absolutely enraging thread on Lemmy, where some guy is like “I want to politely debate why I like to gargle capitalism’s balls, and would appreciate you being polite about it”, and all the comments are from people desperately trying to respond in a way that they don’t get accused of being a loony, angry commie.

Meanwhile, this chucklefuck is all “if capitalists had adequate rules around the environment, climate change wouldn’t be a problem”.

Not a single response from a genuine punter offering me £150 less than the asking price. It’s a hell of a machine, that I obviously don’t expect to get £500 for, but don’t want to just give it away. But I’ve only had scammers responding.
