While I'm on the subject of ; this episode is, by some margin, the podcast episode I've listened to more than any other. It's absolutely beautiful, to the point that it kind of killed my ability to make my own. Though I hold no animosity towards Nate for this.

I think there's something about this episode in particular that resonated with me perfectly.

It reminded me of nights spent under the covers, listening to the stations I could get on the tiny Sony FM radio I had, the volume dial just the barest fraction above off. The music wasn't cool, it wasn't groundbreaking. It was the likes of Roxette, or Belinda Carlisle. But it was a voice in the dark, keeping me company at a time when sleep eluded me.

@witewulf I'm hoping that the "It's a MacBook for a decent price and I want an Apple laptop" crowd show some interest. The kind of people who want a Mac, but aren't terribly fussed about running the newest OS.

@witewulf It's worth giving it a go. My wife has my 2011 13" MBP running Monterey, which it's perfectly happy with. I could push it to Ventura, but have no real need to do so.

Nothing to stop you putting Ventura on a separate volume to begin with.

@emsquared That is a venerable Mini. Those things are solid still though. I use a 2011 for presentations at work, which it's absolutely rock solid for.

@witewulf Yeah, I wish I'd jumped on the M1 wagon instead of buying this one, though I couldn't afford to at the time.

What's annoying is that it runs Ventura flawlessly through OCLP, but I can't really sell it that way because OCLP requires a little more finessing than simply running the supported OS, and I don't want to have to field that post-sale tech support.

@witewulf Yeah, the Metal transition was painful for non-Metal machines. I have a 2011 MBP and Mini, both of which don't have Metal support. It's only really an issue with certain software - in particular MS Office and Apple's own iWork suite (as it was).
