For a while there, back when I was a kid, I flirted with the idea of being a journalist. I liked the idea of writing for a living, or digging out injustices and bringing them to light for all the world to see.

Now I’m older and more jaded, I see that the best paid journalists, the ones we’re all aware of, do little more than write 500 words a week with the express intention of stoking up some culture war. They have opinions for money and never have to suffer the consequences of their words.

Having one of those days where, for absolutely no reason whatsoever, my Mac has decided to shit the bed.

It locked up out of the blue, so I force restarted, after which it booted into a kind of sudo safe mode. I’ve had this before, so I uninstalled the Opencore patches, and reinstalled. Now Sonoma won’t log in. It won’t log in to safe mode either.

I don’t have the energy for this shit.

In one in the eye for Apple; we had a spare Pëncil knocking about the house - a cheapy rip off one from Amazon that functions exactly like a gen 1, but charges with USB instead of Lightning.

Since I got my iPad mini it’s gone unused because as far as I was concerned the mini could only work with a gen 2 Pencil.

Turns out that ain’t true.

With a USB-C > A adapter, then a regular USB charging lead, the Pëncil is now paired with my iPad and works perfectly fine wirelessly.

Had a dawning realisation on the walk to work this morning that I’m cruising once again into work burnout territory.

It’s not that I work super hard - I really don’t - it’s that part of my job physically requires me to go into the workshop to carry out inspections on things, and I really don’t enjoy that bit because it’s huge and unfinishable. So I make myself busy by doing all the office stuff I can, giving me the chance to sit here with my headphones on, listening to music.
