How many Americans with law degrees are there?

Surely we can find some who are more qualified than whatever we have now to be in the Supreme Court.

Da_Gut,
@Da_Gut@dice.camp avatar

@thomasfuchs You don't have to be or have been a lawyer, or a judge - ever, to sit on the Supreme Court.

River herring movement upstream coincides with other common signs … of spring. Anyone who is interested in observing herring from inland positions in the Northeast can take note of the blooming of spring shrubs. It is commonly known that the best time to see alewives is when forsythia is in bloom, while the shad move upstream with the blooming of shadbush. Blueback herring move inland a bit later …, and they tend to spawn when lilacs are in bloom.

The flowers of this maize/corn plant are buzzing with bees. Pinch and zoom for details.

Da_Gut,
@Da_Gut@dice.camp avatar

@Deus Interesting. Corn is wind pollinated (its a grass). But a little searching shows that bees forage in corn fields, especially if pickings are slim elsewhere in the area. So I learned that!

Fuuuck. The airline changed my connecting flight coming home from Indy in August from being at a good time to departing 8 hours before my first flight arrives. I booked everything though Hopper and luckily got the missed connection insurance, because getting hold of anyone at the airline is impossible. I may just have to fly on the day, invoke the missed connection guarantee, and get a new flight booked then. But it's stressful as hell. Luckily it's coming home and not going, maybe?

Da_Gut,

@rivetgeek Sorry! That sounds major annoying!

There was a steady stream of Alewives up the fish ladder in Newport - not constant, but steady.

Saw a YouTuber try to sell an argument that the US govt is claiming video games cause violence again because of memes and stuff.

It's a p gross misrepresentation of what the report actually concludes, which is that extremists use games and social media to communicate.

Da_Gut,
@Da_Gut@dice.camp avatar

@micahdraws This was noted 20+ years ago. I can't remember the precise game, but some extremists were using an MMO to communicate.

Great. Big dog (Cora) has diarrhea. She's always had a touchy stomach. So I'm sitting up to keep her from waking my wife for her (the dog, not my wife's) frequent trips out till this resolves.

How many people still buy and use physical calendars? Whether wall, or desk? And how old are you?

Da_Gut, to random
@Da_Gut@dice.camp avatar

, we did not see the Aurora last night, but these are the lights of town.

Da_Gut,
@Da_Gut@dice.camp avatar

@bedirthan Yeah, that's the more common. Were you able to see the Auroras? We've not managed a good luck yet.

I will say since moving to Maine, that I can see the Milky Way again. Due to light pollution in North GA, I hadn't been able to see it for some years prior.

Mount Katahdin, highest point in Maine.

Da_Gut,
@Da_Gut@dice.camp avatar

@bedirthan Heh. I hadn't even noticed that. Let me track down that lake, and see if I can find some history on it. That picture is from mile marker 252 on Highway 95 in Maine.

Da_Gut,
@Da_Gut@dice.camp avatar

@bedirthan Well, its Salmon Stream lake (Pond, really). A cursory search shows nothing interesting about its history.

Da_Gut,
@Da_Gut@dice.camp avatar

@bedirthan Yep, though its mostly an illusion from this one specific spot. Zoom in on it in Google Maps and there is nothing particular about it.

Though I've been drifting away from for a while now, it's still feels really weird to be completely uninterested in the latest releases. I mean, not even a twinge of FOMO.

Da_Gut,
@Da_Gut@dice.camp avatar

@bedirthan @Tim_Eagon @dragoncrown Ah okay, yeah, that is different from character generation. Point taken.

Da_Gut,
@Da_Gut@dice.camp avatar

@bedirthan @Tim_Eagon @dragoncrown Yeah, thats fair. Character advancement "should" be informed by the direcction of the campaign.

Da_Gut,
@Da_Gut@dice.camp avatar

@rivetgeek @bedirthan @Tim_Eagon @dragoncrown Well, even in games that don't technically allow it, most GM's I know will allow changes to character sheets after the fact.

Da_Gut,
@Da_Gut@dice.camp avatar

@libraryogre @bedirthan @Tim_Eagon @dragoncrown 3.5 was the worst. Though at one time, you could die in Travellers character generation. Which is the most extreme example of losing character generation

Da_Gut,
@Da_Gut@dice.camp avatar

@bedirthan @libraryogre @Tim_Eagon @dragoncrown That one I haven't seen. I've experienced the early traveller death, a long, long, long time ago.

Da_Gut,
@Da_Gut@dice.camp avatar

@pteryx @libraryogre @bedirthan @Tim_Eagon @dragoncrown I remember that we didn't use prestige classes much, for that reason. I understand we were an oddball group, in that regard.
