River herring movement upstream coincides with other common signs … of spring. Anyone who is interested in observing herring from inland positions in the Northeast can take note of the blooming of spring shrubs. It is commonly known that the best time to see alewives is when forsythia is in bloom, while the shad move upstream with the blooming of shadbush. Blueback herring move inland a bit later …, and they tend to spawn when lilacs are in bloom.
Great. Big dog (Cora) has diarrhea. She's always had a touchy stomach. So I'm sitting up to keep her from waking my wife for her (the dog, not my wife's) frequent trips out till this resolves.
It’s about granularity and what I can glance at at once. I do not need a daily (hour, minute) schedule which is the default on many ‘computer calendars’, my needs are more like week, month, year.
I go to computer calendars
most often when determining what year June 17th fell on a Saturday, that sort of thing.
@bedirthan Yeah, that's the more common. Were you able to see the Auroras? We've not managed a good luck yet.
I will say since moving to Maine, that I can see the Milky Way again. Due to light pollution in North GA, I hadn't been able to see it for some years prior.
Well, I went to my primary care doctor yesterday, and had a bunch of labs done.
In the words of my wife "They are disgustingly good". (She is jealous of my cholesterol reading).
My A1C is a bit high (I've had diabetes for a while) but just barely over what we want it.
Everything else checks out... the low side of normal.
Interesting!
You want to get that A1C fully under control? Go Vegan. I did for six months (my wife went vegan, that meant I went vegan). She fell off the wagon after six months, so I did too. But in that six months I lost 60 pounds and my A1C went to the low 5's. My eye doctor commented " I don't have diabetes. You do have diabetes, and your A1C is lower than mine!"
@Da_Gut Mine is almost entirely from a voracious soda habit. I just stopped cold except the occasional can of Sprite. My food diet intake wasn't really a concern, I eat pretty light normally, but too much cholesterol and processed food (tbh, I eat because I have to). I started eating more fruits and vegetables. I've lost like 6 lbs but I wasn't that overweight to begin with (20 lbs or so). Crossing my fingers with my next blood lab in a couple months that my A1C drops into the low 5s.
My wife and I finally (finally!) had a conversation about my increasing memory loss. And growing signs of early dementia.
It's something I've been wanting to do for a couple of years. She is quite upset, but I made my peace with it a while ago. It's just getting impossible to ignore. #memory#alzheimers#dementia
I swear its weird how internet tracking works. My wife was telling myself and a mutual friend about the album "I glued my balls to my butthole again". Now a couple of days later, with no searches by me on any device, it shows up in my YouTube suggestions.
the giant Bolverk tells Skafloc,... “Many heroes have owned this sword, because it brings victory to the wielder. There is naught on which it does not bite, nor does it ever grow dull of edge. Venom is in the steel, and the wounds it gives cannot be healed by leechcraft or magic or prayer. Yet this is the curse on it: that every time it is drawn it must drink blood, and that in the end, somehow, it brings the bane of him who uses it.”
