I'd say the amount required to lick is enough that it's large enough to have enough surface area for the tongue to make contact. It also needs to be as pure as possible (not possible to be 100% pure for most metals because they'll always form oxides).

    @gikkt @grivettcarnac I really wish I could've been there to see it in person, but alas I missed it. Great that people took photos though and there's videos online, it's just not the same as in person though.

    @catsalad I figured out how to do it even easier, by just importing a list using the built-in import-export functions with threads.net in it. Doesn't require coding or API access, just create or a text file and import it as a domain block list.

    @Ghostalmedia @deadsuperhero I think the fact that I was able to see and reply to this comment of yours from Mastodon proves this idea false, if you check the Post history of this account you will also find that content posted in Lemmy is visible.

    They absolutely do interact, lemmy is way more Mastodon friendly than most people give it credit for, considering the fact that communities/groups, automatically boost every post and comment for visibility.

    So people on Lemmy being concerned about poorly moderated or cesspool microblog instances is indeed a valid concern.

    Hey everyone just FYI you can post to Kbin and Lemmy from Mastodon and other Fediverse Micro-blogging platforms by having one line of your post at the top be the title and putting a mention to the specific community's handle in your post, works best if the mention is below the title. Also you can even attach images and they will appear in the post as an image (multiple images don't work as well sadly).

    Here's an example of the format that works best, even for non-glitch instances:

    Assuming someone is trans
    who has not explicitly said
    they're trans is just as
    coercive and harmful as the
    way cis society assigns
    gender onto trans people.

    I don't know if you're trying to dismiss this idea or try and frame it as something dumb that "baby trans" say but it is true that imposing gender onto someone is extremely coercive and harmful, and can cause lasting damage to them whether or not it is actually true.

    As for the second point someone having gender dysphoria doesn't necessarily mean they are a girl, it just means they either have distress towards their birth sex, assigned gender, or parts of these things.
    So to say that Kurt WAS a girl when they could've just as easily been NonBinary or genderfluid reeks of Binary existentialism, as if to say that people must have binary genders.

    Hey everyone, by some stroke of luck the Spotpass servers for the Wii U and 3DS were not yet shutdown so it is still possible to obtain and submit archives.

    If you have a Wii U or 3DS I highly encourage you to follow the guide on this site to submit dumps.
    Even if you don't please spread the word so we can get as many dumps as possible and save as much content as we can (boosts are very helpful and much appreciated).

    So in light of the recent test of ActivityPub on Threads.net I thought I would share how to block threads.net. If you're on a server that blocks it this isn't needed, but if for whatever reason your server won't block it, here's how you can.

    Go to your settings and click Import and Export and the import section.

    Either create a text file with the meta Domains you'd like to block (one domain per line), or you can download this one I created. (Has Facebook, Insta, and Threads) https://files.catbox.moe/r88lj0.csv

    On the import tab upload the csv or text file and import it as a blocked domains list, make sure you're doing it as a merge or you'll lose the ones you already have.

    Afterwards you will have successfully blocked the threads domain which will stop you from seeing threads content when they do open federation and make following attempts from people unable to follow you without approval.

    Hope people find this helpful, if you do please share so it may help others.

    [Bug] Gifs don't upload on the instance

    I tried to upload a gif but I get this error message when doing so:

    I can upload any other type of image but gifs always fail for some reason.
    Does anyone have any clue what could be going wrong? There's obviously something wrong with pictrs but I'm not sure what.
