I’m always blown away by how discoveries like antibiotics changed our lives. And writing too. Mind blowing that we can record, discern, and communicate so much information from marks on a surface
I mostly just wanted a simple media server at home but also I needed to use Linux and Docker for university work. I’ve only really used Ubuntu. I’m happy enough with it and have no reason to change for now
This one’s more for the ones with ADHD but I keep a drink bottle and my ritalin next to my bed. When my alarm goes off I take the ritalin and chug the water (or something like juice if I really need the novelty). I don’t have much of a chance of falling back asleep and wasting my morning after that and it means I can actually spend the morning doing whatever I need to. We’re in autumn here in Aus so I keep a blanket by the bed that I throw over myself for the walk to the bathroom in the morning because I’m such a wimp about the cold. Also, not morning, but morning related: I leave my wallet and outfit I want to wear tomorrow in the bathroom over night so it’s there when I go to shower in the morning, and I’ll sometimes prepare breakfast the night before, which both make my mornings so much easier.
I really struggle with functioning at the same times as most other people (DSPS) and I’m bad with time management so any little things like that help vastly.
I mean I get it tbh. I enjoy both media (tend to avoid shonen) but some of the common tropes can be a turn off. Some of my friends (lovely people) are hardcore fans and as much as I love those people, I can only tolerate so much of “have you seen crunchyroll has this new show? It’s called “I was a high-school tuba player but I woke up in a video game now I travel the dungeon with my magical talking dog” and it’s about…” before I steer the conversation away
I had a local burger joint call me up to tell me that the our food was currently, and had been with the driver for the past 30 mins. They knew this because the guy decided to have dinner in the parking lot after picking up our order so I really try to avoid now
I tried watching an episode of Schitt’s Creek when it started but it just didn’t click for me. My sister convinced me to just watch through the first season earlier this year and it got so much better with each season. So quotable, great comedic timing, character development, loved it.
Going through a similar thing with Star Trek atm. Didn’t give it much attention until I passively watched a couple episodes that my boyfriend had on. Hooked on Strange New Worlds and Lower Decks now.
a.k.a. the 90–9–1 principle. Does the Fediverse follow this rule, or are there more creators here as early adopters? Are you a creator, a participator or a lurker?
I thought about that too, but I also can see a scenario where as the userbase grows, one instance’s community is seen as the “default”. I suppose the upside is that if something happens to one instance, there will be a backup of sorts on another instance - which in a way is sort one of the points of decentralisation.
Is that a Bambino? How do you rate it? I almost bought one a while ago but I’m picky so I’m contemplating spending bigger on something a little more enthusiast.
I made a post around a week ago that really took off, and figured we are probably going to see a small spike in activity due to the reddit migration, so I thought we could give it another go!...
I’m really keen to buy a proper machine in the next year or two. Thinking something like the Quick Mill Pippa.
I was doing V60 for a while but Aeropress is my go-to now, even for an instant “coldbrew” in a pinch.
Bodybrew Bod for cold brew. Love it, so easy to use, so easy to clean.
Normally I use a Bialetti 1 cup, but lately I’ve been using a second-hand Irmel moka pot I found. Had to buy a new gasket for it.
Very much considering going manual for the cost, but also I love the look of the manual espresso machines.
I bought a Bellman that can steam because I didn’t like the foam I got with a nanofoamer. But to be honest it’s a lot of effort for steamed milk and the way it brews coffee is very hit or miss too. Bit of a learning curve.
Ever notice mammals never seem to come in green?
Birds, fish, reptiles, amphibians, insects? Sure. But no mammals....
To date, what do you think is the greatest invention or discovery and why?
Mine is the computer. I continue to be amazed at what we can do with them.
Did you choose for Linux for freedom or ...
for gratis or other reasons ?...

Does anyone like the taste of dragon fruit? (lemmy.world)
I just had one and was incredibly disappointed it just tasted like a kiwi without any flavor.

Yes, I know that’s an airfryer but I don’t roast beans in it. This is my new setup as per yesterday. Missing is the Hario hand grinder here....

What Creamer do you prefer? Anyone sitting on a gem? (youtu.be)
I’ve been thinking of ‘solving’ the creamer issue for myself lately and then I saw Hoffman’s video. What do you swear by?

Is it a good thing if there are identical communities on different instances?
Is it worthwhile to try to get mods to combine them? It just seems like a bit of a waste when trying to grow a community and its split in two....

There’s 20lbs of green beans in the cabinet below too...
