Over 400 Palestinians were killed in Gaza in the last day, & 70 were killed overnight on Sunday in bombardments of the densely populated Jabalia refugee camp & streets close to 2 hospitals in Gaza City.

Entire residential blocks across the strip have now been levelled, including in areas where Palestinians had been told by the Israel Defence Forces to seek refuge. Approximately half the strip’s housing stock, & much of the coastal exclave, is covered in grey rubble dust.

@Incognitim This is so gut-wrenching and heart-breaking. Blatant war crimes being committed, televised, and somehow accepted by many people as legitimate retribution for other war crimes.

probably shouldn't be used to store anything (with moisture) that you plan on ingesting:
"he filled the storage vessels with water and 3% acetic acid to mimic the aqueous and acidic foods they might reasonably contain in real life. After storing the containers in the fridge or at room temp for 10 days, the team found millions to billions of microplastics & nanoplastics in the liquids.

Microwaving the containers accelerated the process by an alarming magnitude."

An official that oversees arms transfers resigned in protest of the decision to continue sending weapons & ammunition to Israel as it lays siege to Gaza in its war with Hamas.

Mr. Paul said that Israel’s cutting off of water, food, medical care & electricity to 2 million people in Gaza, should prompt protections in a number of longstanding federal laws intended to keep US weapons out of the hands of human rights violators. But those legal guardrails are failing, he said.

Surely his high ethical standards wouldn't permit him to accept a donation from this..."very good friend?" 😳😅🤣

"Cornel West draws max donation from GOP megadonor Harlan Crow.
The professor is challenging President Joe Biden from the left in the 2024 presidential election, running as an independent after dropping a Green Party bid."

The scientists stress that under current trends, per capita animal protein consumption is projected to increase by 17% by 2050 from 2012 levels, with total meat production increasing over 60% between 2010 & 2050.

The world's large & growing appetite for meat & other animal products has profound implications, given its impacts on health, the environment, & animal health & welfare. So far, however, policymakers have given more attention to just transitions in other areas, such as energy policy.👇

Ugh- I find myself in the rare & regrettable position of defending

I DON'T think he's gonna take people's credit cards & do something shady like use it to buy a bunch of adspace to make up for all the revenue he's lost because of his past blunders.

Like sure- he'll definitely sell the related data to some 3rd parties, or just give it away if they kiss his ass enough. But most likely he'll just store the important card info someplace with super lax security 😅

"Auburn's Jewish coach Bruce Pearl says Obama, Biden 'created the crap' in Israel and Gaza"

Pearl has gotten in trouble for secretly taping a phone conversation with a recruit who spurned him, lying and telling others to lie to ncaa investigators, aaand was uncooperative with internal investigators from after his associate head coach was arrested by the FBI for bribery and corruption. So, it makes sense that he's a trump fan!

"The Presidential oath, which the 14th Amendment's framers surely knew, requires the President to swear to 'preserve, protect & defend' the Constitution, not to 'support' the Constitution," said the filing by Trump's lawyers. "Because the framers chose to define the group of people subject to Section 3 by an oath to 'support' the Constitution, & not by an oath to 'preserve, protect & defend' it, the framers of the 14th never intended for it to apply to the President." 🤡💩🤣

I wish fox covered stuff like this, because it would be hiiiilarious to see the mental gymnastics as they try to defend "it's not the President's job to support the Constitution, only to preserve, protect and defend it..."

Walking While Black
has a chilling roadside encounter in her debut essay collection, Black Friend.

"...A smiling brown-haired man with a Supercuts haircut peered out of his car. “What are you doing here?” he said.

I did not respond because I could have asked him the same thing. I had explored this trail enough to know it led in the opposite direction of town. Nothing was there other than woods … and more woods..."

'18 of 21 newly made cardinals are under the age of 80 & thus currently eligible to vote as "cardinal electors" in the next conclave, which will choose 86 year-old Francis' successor.

They're among 99 cardinal-electors created by Francis (representing about 3/4 of the total) & giving rise to speculation that the next will be similar to Francis, preaching a more tolerant & diverse Church with a greater focus on the poor & marginalized.'
I sense a schism coming up. 😬

A listener-supported radio station in will withhold the broadcast of six operas this season from the NY Metropolitan Opera, because the station management objects to their content.

The Met is showcasing its commitment to recently written works by people who aren't white men. Three of the operas are by Black or Mexican composers.
In April, WCPE also refused to broadcast another Met-produced written by a Black composer that included LGBTQ themes.

To try to avoid reviews like this? 🤣
"I was not able to detect in the vocal parts of Parsifal anything that might with confidence be called rhythm or tune or melody... Singing! It does seem the wrong name to apply to it... In Parsifal there is a hermit named Gurnemanz who stands on the stage in one spot and practices by the hour, while first one and then another of the cast endures what he can of it and then retires to die."

Virginicus,

@Incognitim Wagner’s music is better than it sounds.
