I get cranky when other drivers don’t signal their turn because I could've pulled out sooner, but when they do signal I still wait because I don't trust them.

Virginicus,

@MostlyHarmless We need a signal that says, “I’m a person who uses turn signals, but I’m not turning at this corner.”

Phew. While most people watched Chinese variety shows during Chinese New Year, I watched the Putin/Tucker interview AND a podcast by Konstantin Kisin analysing it. Hope to see reactions from the Russian Youtubers I follow too.
Here's my thoughts:

  • The Russian history was needed. While i know the basic facts about how the Russian war came about, most US folks probably don't
  • I didnt find Putin's reasoning for the invasion convincing tho - esp denazification. I still think it is wrong

Virginicus,

@liztai Possibly also relevant: Fox News dodged a libel suit by testifying in court that Carlson was an entertainer, not a journalist, so he has no obligation to transmit the truth.

Home is the only place you don't go "to." You go "to work." You go "to school." You go "to the shop", but you don't go "to home." You just go home.

Virginicus,

@countcol The locution is related to “go crazy”.

Arbor Day Foundation's webpage "Trees for Bees and Other Pollinators" has Bayer logo...

I know how hard it is to fundraise. It's easier if you say no to sponsors that are opposite to what you stand for.

Virginicus,

@kellyromanych I don’t know what the deal is with the Arbor Day Foundation anymore. They don’t seem to do anything, and the information on their website is frequently incorrect.

I was overjoyed to receive yesterday a copy of "Mapping Texts" from @dustinstoltz and @mtaylor_soc

Still to early to review the book but it is gorgeous, very well organized and nicely illustrated! It even has a chapter on project workflow.

It comes fully loaded with R packages to help you dive into text analysis quickly.

Thanks a lot!

photo of page 58 display the layout of one page of the book with use of margins to have a better display of graphic and margin notes.
front cover of Mapping texts, the text is building into a line plots suggesting also maybe terrain elevation and strata

I recently added a heating cable for my Camponotus pennsylvanicus colony. ( it’s been cold in our coop and they have brood already, knew they’d like the warmth.) This same colony has also, much to my annoyance, insisted on keeping a small midden of what I assumed was trash in one chamber of their log. They have a big garbage pile far away in the outworld too … so I thought they were just lazy. But when I added the heating cable they moved the garbage… to another chamber (?) 1/
