If you run a binary repo using fdroidserver and plan to update to the latest code, make sure to first study https://gitlab.com/fdroid/fdroidserver/-/merge_requests/1466 and https://gitlab.com/fdroid/fdroidserver/-/issues/1128 In short, despite of multiple warnings, changes were applied which will reject several legit and absolutely fine APKs, e.g. such using key rotation. You will no longer be able to keep those in your repo once you've updated fdroidserver to that. Cases might be few, so you might be affected or not, but please check to make sure.

2 days ago I reported about a #security patch having been applied to the IzzyOnDroid F-Droid repo aka #IzzySoftRepo – but I didn't give much details. After it was tested now at the IoD test & staging area, and running smoothly for two days for the public one, I reported back to its author @obfusk that all seems smooth, and she decided to make POC & patch public. So it looks like @protonprivacy made their Proton Mail app proprietary – or do I miss something? On the PlayStore there's a v4.0.6, while the Github repo at https://github.com/ProtonMail/proton-mail-android didn't see any commit since last October, and has v3.0.17 as latest release.

I hope I'm wrong here and just missed a note that you moved the repo to e.g. Codeberg or so?

I've already told you about the additional APK checks now performed in my repo, and that you can find the first summary of explanations in the repo info (https://apt.izzysoft.de/fdroid/index/info#manifest).

Now the results of those checks on app permissions are being made transparent to you if you expand the permission section for an app. Not seen in the screenshots: on mouseover you now will get a short explanation for each permission.

Von oben links nach unten rechts: 1x Screen Protector Nokia E71, 1x VHS "Babylon 5: Das Tor zur 3. Dimension", 1x Ladekabel: Zigarettenanzünder => miniUSB, 1x Handy-Hülle (altes Nokia, aber welches?)
1x Sattelschoner (neu, unbenutzt) und 1x alter Schreibtischsessel, der noch für Garage/Baustelle o.ä. taugt. Bezüge gebe ich gern mit, Rollen würden noch gegen Hartrollen ausgetauscht.

Remember that #PlayStore wanted to update/replace a bunch of apps installed from other sources such as #FDroid recently? Well, turns out someone found what triggers it and how it can be avoided, see https://github.com/jamie-mh/AuthenticatorPro/issues/1054#issuecomment-1867484763 for details.

Basically, the reason there was that AABs (the #Android App Bundles uploaded to Play) had a higher versionCode than the APKs distributed by the other sources. Still does not explain why Google ignored the "installer" property, though.
