#AndroidAppRain at https://apt.izzysoft.de/fdroid today brings you 15 updated & 0 added apps. Still this toot, as 3 of the updated apps had to change their signing keys; if you have installed one of them you'll need to uninstall & reinstall to receive updates:
JRPN 15C
JRPN 16C
Tabs Lite
Key change was of course properly verified with their authors help.
The #Apollo#spacecraft included 2 scimitar #VHF#antennas for short-range communication with Earth, the Lunar Module, and the lunar surface.
The Block II #CSM, pictured here, moved the #antenna to the Service #Module from the Command Module.
Yesterday night :pixelfed:.de had a few outtages. Why? Weeeell…
It starts with buypass having had an oopsie in their ACME service, which means they will revoke all certificates generated before 2023-12-22 in a few days. I wanted to force-renew my certs before.
The way to do it on #nixos is quite simple and well documented, buuut didn't work for me. The buypass API gave nothing but 500s, so that left me with self-signed certificates.
I decided to switch to LE to fix it quickly, but the host being nixos, I can't just run lego with the let's encrypt API endpoint, but have to change it in my config and rebuild the host instead. No big deal, except … I updated my system flake to 23.11 a while ago, but didn't apply that to abnoba yet, the host running pixelfed.de. The small config change turned into a release upgrade instead.
My flake was tested on other hosts enough, so the upgrade went smoothly, well, except for the last except. I run pixelfed in rootless podman containers from an unprivileged user, which means that user needs systemds linger enabled, or else running (podman) processes will get killed after logout.
Logout happens (for me) 10 minutes after I close the shell, as my SSH sessions persist for that time.
I do enable linger on every boot, but somehow the (accidental) upgrade seems to have killed that setting.
Well, it took me three rounds of wondering why the containers died to remember linger, re-enable it, and finally go to bed 😄
@stpaultim Yes, I also found this #module very helpful for my #Backdrop blog. I liked being able to see all of the options for a reference field upfront, rather than risk creating duplicates.
I'm going to have a bit of a #tech#rant (less charitable people might say #whine) here. If you just want jokes and cute bunny pictures, feel free to skip this one.
Object of my #ire this week? #Furnaces. I'm not even going to rant about their main control boards; most of that's been said better than I could say it, by others with more knowledge than I.
I'm #impressed by what it accomplishes; it is quite the #feat, and not totally #obvious at first glance.
But it means that little control module is really quite #complicated, and is a dense little #blob of high-power circuitry. It would be expensive enough just for that.
The actual 3-phase motor is #simple - that's one of the reasons they're used in industry, simple means less to go #wrong. And it appears to be well-made, so there are #quality#bearings and #windings and everything in it. But the motor itself isn't expensive. Rheem probably doesn't pay more than USD 100 for that part of it, and maybe less.
Clean Energy Associates projects that major Chinese manufacturers will achieve a global solar module manufacturing capacity of 1 terawatt by the end of 2024. Furthermore, this capacity is projected to hit that same mark within China’s borders by 2025.

@technotramp could I share a little of your Unexpected Tracks as the music for my show this week? (I talk about lisps and smolnet community news, while sharing awesome underground music of people I meet). Is there a big ipfs music scene? You are the first one I encountered.
I'm enjoying Honeycomb -> Funky Cat right now. I once had some bubble gum from Japan that had the words "highly technical flavor" printed on the packaging which this puts me in mind of somehow
That is #absolutely#true. The rplayer.core.js #module (which can be run separately) even uses #jQuery, which is a weakness in this regard. But there's another level to this. #RPlayer serves primarily as an #archive. If I know the #IPFS#CID, I can easily deduce the address of the rplayer.conf.js file, which contains all the #information and #paths to the #media...

Just a note for anyone who uses #darktable for raw processing and wants to play with anamorphic lenses, online you'll find no results for how to desqueeze but there is actually a way to do it. Using the rotate and perspective module, change the lens type from "generic" to "specific" and you should be able to then adjust the aspect ratio to your lens' (eg, in my case, 1.33)
