You’re nitpicking the headline while agreeing with the article.
“What is striking is that the uncool, mean standards of FOSS conduct that many of us have decried for years, and that many defended as authentic, tough, etc., ended up not just being exclusionary loser behavior, but a significant attack surface.”
Woods presented his real Social Security card and an authentic state of California ID card, but the assistant branch manager became suspicious when Woods could not answer security questions that Kierans had set for the bank accounts.
The bank employee called the phone number listed on the accounts, which was Kierans’ number. At that point, Kierans correctly answered the security questions, and the assistant branch manager contacted the Los Angeles Police Department to investigate Woods.
Total incompetence from start to finish. But, you know, he was homeless. What are the police supposed to do, care about poor people?
They’re charging (fining) the recipients £5 to collect the post so the people they’re robbing couldn’t possibly have the relevant receipt anyway.
They better have some very good evidence that the problem is not with their stamps given the decades-long saga with the Post Office (which started years before Royal Mail was sold off as a separate entity).
There’s only 23 players in a squad and, traditionally, only the numbers 1-11 used on the pitch. There are no good reasons for 44, let alone 88, to exist.
“Ban” is a clickbait word. Adidas has decided not to make any more of them because it doesn’t want to be associated with Nazis. Oh noes.

The lawsuit filed by Lizelle Gonzalez in federal court Thursday comes a month after the State Bar of Texas fined and disciplined the district attorney in rural Starr County over the case in 2022, when Gonzalez was charged with murder in “the death of an individual by self-induced abortion.”
The only question is how much the damages should be. Here’s hoping for a jury inclined to send a message about this sort of prosecutorial (and hospital) misconduct

Please don’t do this. There is absolutely nothing strange or startling about a people who have been subjected to genocide going on to commit it (see also: Serbia).
This sort of finger-wagging is crude and insulting, and the only outcome is far-right Zionists trying to pin the Holocaust on Palestinians and claiming that Palestinian animosity towards Israel is because of a European-style irrational hatred of Jews, not its colonial and genocidal actions.
The attempt to attack Corbyn by drawing comparisons with Truss is bizarre. I can only assume that a mildly conscientious sub-editor inserted the bolded bit because it contradicts everything else he has to say about that particular analogy:
In her mix of utter conviction and utter obliviousness to how she might come across to anyone who doesn’t see the world the way she does, the politician she most resembles is Jeremy Corbyn. Like him, Truss is convinced the policies she advocates are popular with a majority of the public. For Corbyn it was nationalisation of the utilities, more money for the NHS and cheaper housing, all of which poll extremely well. For Truss it is secure borders, lower taxes and an end to burdensome environmental restrictions. In both cases, the explanation for why the things the public want never come to pass is the same: the system is stacked against the preferences of ordinary people.
It’s good news but the hype is nonsensical. Domestic energy generation has shifted a lot but the primary driver of lower emissions is exporting our manufacturing jobs. And now they’re polishing their halos while wagging their fingers at China.
The UK economy gradually shifted from a carbon-intensive manufacturing-based economy to a less carbon-intensive services economy after-1986. The gap between the consumption-based and territorial-based emissions started to widen. By 2007, the consumption-based CO2 emissions reached their peak and were 37% higher than the territorial CO2 emissions. This implies that the absolute decoupling of gross domestic product (GDP) from territorial CO2 emissions in 1986 was not solely because of policy impacts, but also because of the outsourcing of the production of manufactured goods to developing countries.
The Salt Lake Police Department is defending itself in the case of the man accused of a string of hit-and-runs in the city and questions about why Ahn Pham wasn’t arrested after the initial hit-and-run last August....
First off, the police didn’t even arrest him. This is nothing to do with a ‘failure’ to lock him up, it’s a failure to bring any charges at all.
But, more importantly, hit and run is a very serious crime. Whether or not you were at fault for hitting someone, leaving the scene instead of getting them help is the most serious element of the crime (in the absence of evidence of intent).
I don’t think that is true. But even if it was, this particular hit and run hit a person. As you know because the guy turned out to be a fucking serial killer using his car as a weapon.
No one has argued for anyone to be locked up for causing minor damage to inanimate objects.
If you are unwilling to grapple with the details of this offender and/or unable to quit your knee-jerk defence of the police persistently ignoring the crimes of predators, just keep your fucking mouth shut.
Before the first crash, on Aug. 22, 2023, witnesses saw a white sedan with a license plate number registered to Pham pull up beside a 36-year-old woman. She shrugged off the vehicle and began to run away when the car “sped up and hit [her] causing her to fly over the vehicle and land on the ground hard,” charging documents state. The driver then sped away.
You’re on the wrong thread. I don’t care that you got here because you’re an idle blabbermouth who prefers spouting words to reading them. It’s well past time for you to fuck off.
This is classic abuser behaviour, and classic escalation of abusive behaviours.
He is escalating now because he knows you’re trapped. He’s threatening suicide because he knows it will trap you further.
Start working on an escape plan. Where would you go? What money would you have? Would it be wise to leave while he’s out? Who can be with you to help you leave safely?
Someone else linked you to the Lundy book Why does he do that? I recommend you read it, especially if you are not yet sure that you need to leave.
