I love bullshit dark patterns like the one I just encountered with #LinkedIn. I was trying to cancel the Premium subscription because my trial ends on Thursday. I opened the mobile app, dug through the settings until I found the right page only to see a message that I need to visit their website to perform the cancellation.

@JosephLeedy every time they claim she got smarter, she is clearly worse than before.
theory is they purposely want us to stop using her as they regret it for lawsuit reasons. i base this on the first downgrade was removal of finding song lyrics and reading them to you (from lock)
like, she used to be able to find music you wont like, have not heard, and even read web pages to you. these days she cannot do any of that. at most she is willing to read the first paragraph of wikipedia only.
This bodes well for my upcoming trip. The same flight that I’m taking this Saturday left seven minutes late last night but arrived fifteen minutes early at LHR. 🙌🏽 Hopefully I can have such luck because I have to catch a train to Edinburgh at 12:15 BST on 9 July.
@derickr thanks for the recommendations. I’m staying right near Rose Street, so they help. So far, I’ve been to Scotts for a pint and Rose & Crown for dinner.
It’s an odd decision for #PHPTek not to stream the keynote and some of the talks for virtual attendees, but I guess they need an incentive to motivate people to actually show up in person. 🤷🏽♂️
@ian@JosephLeedy every single keynote has technical issues. 😿😿😿 We learned a ton this year.
The full videos with mostly good audio will be available as soon as we can get them done.
One thing I learned: when you buy equipment that’s supposed to record every input whether streamed or not, don’t assume that feature is enabled by default. Hint: it isn’t.
