When I hear people say in #ttrpgs that they like to make up the character’s backstory and personality as they play rather than beforehand or at a session 0, I think they must have players that are far better at improv than the ones I play with.
In my experience, if a character doesn’t have a backstory at the beginning, they never will have one.
@DejahEntendu@zdl@Kokirimuscle I've heard stories of GMs just announcing that the bad guy has killed a PC's family, so you should care about the plot. That sounds bad, disempowering & off-putting; but on the other hand I like the idea of finding your home town is under threat and your next mission is to defend it. That sounds empowering and could be lots of fun. More role-play opportunities, too

Well, we have a trip to Seattle booked. Planning to drive around the Seattle-Tacoma-Olympia area looking for neighborhoods we wouldn’t mind getting an apartment in. Maybe even drive out to Ellensburg/Yakima.

Before claiming that “government run is inefficient” I point you at the USPS. A government entity that has been actively stifled by politicians for decades in attempts to privatize, and will still ship to places even ups and fed ex won’t, all for notaxdollars, just the cost of postage.

Tech support tip: don’t use hyperbole in your description of the problem or what you’ve tried.
Saying “the screen just loads forever” is different than “the screen loads for 2-3 minutes, then goes blank”. Saying “every time I click the button, the app crashes” is different from “75% of the time I click the button, the app crashes”
The different behavior can have different causes and different solutions. Be precise and don’t exaggerate to make it seem like it’s “more important”
How do I force myself to do leg day? The thought of doing it depresses me and makes me want to give up working out entirely. I don’t enjoy any aspect of it and skip a lot. I want to like it. Every time I see Tears of the Kingdom praised as a masterpiece, I become that much more certain the Zelda IP is no longer for me. And that I may not have a reason to buy Nintendo consoles anymore. And that I’m glad I never got a Zelda tattoo. And that I may need to change my username.
It’s a reminder that I need to make sure not to wrap my “identity” into IPs.

Totk and botw are wildly different from other classic Zelda's. They have a way different feel and experience.

Cars are a blight. But even more are large vehicles. They are a danger to pedestrians and people in other vehicles, cause more damage when involved in an accident, block visibility for both pedestrians and other vehicles, and cause a heavier strain on the environment.
All this could be understood if the large vehicle was necessary. But all too often you see a single driver, or a parent and 2-3 kids. You don’t need an SUV to haul 3 kids around the city/suburbs.
@Kokirimuscle I agree strongly! Those big suv and trucks are rarely driven off-road. As you say, They're often empty. Maybe, in place of the gas tax, there should be one on truck weight or size? Maybe an exception for commercial use trucks and suv?
