@chx yeah. Not all Hungarians back Orban, but enough do that the climate is toxic af. I think that's WHY they used a Hungarian, though -- he came to America expecting it to be different. Given the deep history of white supremacy and antisemitism in the US, he shouldn't have had such illusions, but to this day many people do.
@AlexanderKingsbury Capitalism literally forces aquiescence. There is no coöperation between the owners of capital, and hence power, and those with little alternative but to accept what crumbs are offered from his table to serve him.
And the argument for the strong surviving is made constantly by capitalist theorists and apologists. I made this post because the one I put up yesterday was greeted with that exact argument. yawn

And this stuff is just... sad. Why do so many people reach adulthood knowing nothing of #evolution or how #viruses work? They don't get why #COVID19 boosters exist but somehow fail to object to annual influenza #vaccines. The #antivax movement is dangerous and stupid.
@tarraccas That's sad. When I hear that line, though, I always agree -- we didn't come from monkeys, I tell them, because monkeys still exist. They are our cousins. :-) Either way, it's sad people have such a hard time with demonstrated fact. That evolution happens is undeniable, yet here we are, in a world of flat-earthers, creationists, and antivaxxers.
These Texas Republicans invited Boebert to speak after she was caught in a sex-act in a theatre. In their announcement, they said she "seeks to honour God in all she does", which presumably includes public hand-jobs and a gun fetish that the pacifist Jesus would find repulsive.
The Alabama legislature was ordered by the Supreme Court to draw an additional Black majority or close-to-majority Congressional district. In response, they have decided to defy SCOTUS. What do you think should be done in response?
@georgetakei I think they should send in federal troops and finish what was started with Reconstruction. So many of this country's enduring problems with race come of our failure to hold the course in the 1870s.
