Alhezar ( ) Master Thread 1/??

I've been doing this challenge since Day One, but I think it makes more sense to keep everything in one place, so I'm going to compile what I have so far and then start posting my new entries from now on as responses to this thread.

As always, I continue to compiled all of my entries in Google Docs (https://docs.google.com/document/d/1_0PQbrp8Xrz38q8aj4stnmuChmkEMRe8yigHZrd6EFQ/edit?usp=sharing), which occasionally includes a tweaked word here or there and which I view as the ultimate (final) version of these entries, though these posts constitute the "public" facing side of things.

The Mastodon instance I've been on for the past year, as a user and as a moderator, just announced that it's shuttering in 3 months.

As with all of the users on the instance, I have the option of migrating to a new instance in that time. The thing is, for a little while now, most of my limited bandwidth for this kind of social media has been focused on BlueSky (@ajfidalgo.bsky.social). The main draw to migrating would be keeping my post history (particularly my series and my VA sound treatment project), but that's not an option. So I don't think I will be migrating. I'll probably go down with the ship.

I'm going to miss a few people that I have interacted with pretty much exclusively here: @evoterra, @chgowiz, @Tim_Eagon, @amIoldyet, @james. You can find me on BlueSky, if you want to.

I currently have three roles to audition for, in the short term. Each role calls for me to modify the pitch, tenor, or quality of my voice, in ways that I still haven't figured out how I'll accomplish.

On the one hand, I do appreciate a challenge, and it will be fun rising to these challenges.

On the other, I am continually surprised that so much of this journey, so far, involves vocal manipulation. When I set out to do this (voice acting), I really expected I'd just be acting, using some variation on my normal(ish) voice. Instead, I'm becoming a performer of strange characters.

It's an interesting time. I'm glad to be doing this.

Well folks, I'm done. Tried to make it to June 30 but this head cold done me in.

I want to thank those who encouraged me. I would have given up long ago if not for you.

This project was a love letter to The Adventure Zone Ethersea and @evilhat's Scum & Villainy, and I hope one day they get to see it.

And maybe some day I can polish what I have into a full playable setting, with stats and all. Who knows?

It's #AudioDramaSunday again!

Today I want to highlight two shows that are near and dear to my heart, as not only am I a listener but I've also had very small roles in each.

The Storage Papers, created by @Jeremy, is a found footage horror series that sees a seemingly regular guy explore other folks' encounters with things that go bump in the night. Connections are drawn between the various stories, and the hero is drawn deeper into the mystery.

@MadisonontheAir features a modern influencer as she travels through old time radio shows bringing social commentary with her. The series adapts real scripts, and pokes fun of how dated they often seem, while still showing a lot of love for the forbears of contemporary audiodrama.

Don't forget to boost all the AudioDramaSunday posts you see to bring more visibility to indie audio dramas doing their best to entertain and delight us!

Watch this space. In the coming days I'll be making removable sound-absorbing panels for my recording space, & posting pics of the process. I am very new & inexperienced, but I'm getting (& probably screwing up) great advice from a few pros.

I'll share what I do in a series of illustrated posts here & probably some follow up w/ feedback from those pros & my experience. This won't be a guide so much as one amateur's attempts. Fun!

So I wake up this morning to a Discord DM from @evoterra, "my first suspension! I'm so excited!"

I panic. Did he get in a fight and get banned from a mutual server? Did one of my servers ban him? Why? What happened?!

I'm scrambling to check our mutual social media spaces trying to figure out how my friend might have gotten in trouble.
