@godlessmom though in fairness that's probably because I generally treat my atheism as nobody else's business. I applaud but also don't envy those who choose to actually be public about it. Like my very good friend @gtblackwell.

Kidney stone update:

Today was mostly pain/discomfort free. And that’s with me only high-dosing ibuprofen once instead of thrice daily.

The… uh, output has come with a bit more burning and a more sanguine. (Not the 1st definition).

Looking forward to Friday, where the doc will either blast the stone into oblivion or take the whole fucking organ. Kinda over it, ya know?

Ok, Fediverse: What’s up with people adding the letter “y” to words—often alongside other vowels—in their posts? I assume it’s some sort of sub-culture signaling, because appears to be deliberate rather than accidental.

I don’t have an issue with it. Just trying to understand what’s up.

Gmail on iOS uses your proper mail signature, set per account. Email sent is indistinguishable from email from my desktop.

Gmail on Android still uses a "sent from my mobile" type signature.

Surprising (though not very) that Google's own email app on Google's own OS gets second best.

@james I'm getting increasingly frustrated with default android apps arbitrarily deciding how to work, or giving you the choice exactly once, and then never being able to find the setting to change it... and then when you get used to it, one day it arbitrarily starts working a completely different way. Frustrating.

@james when I upgraded my pixel, google messages asked me if I wanted to send videos as links. I said yes, and could never figure out how to switch. But then recently messages just stopped doing it one day, and now it's a hassle to get that functionality again, ad hoc.

Hey fellow Podvibers! Do you have a favorite podcast listening app? I'm looking for something that lets me download episodes to my phone so I don't have to stream. iTunes on my desktop thinks my ipod shuffle is too old, so they effectively bricked it. I tried Google podcasts on my phone. They're killing that in April. YouTube Music app apparently appends ads to podcasts unless you pay. So what else you got?

@Deidzoeb I've been a big fan of PocketCasts for a while. I bought a one time premium upgrade ages ago and I understand they've moved to monthly fee, but I'm fond of the app for a number of reasons, and I download episodes to my phone frequently so as to cut down on data use.

We got the actors together for a recording session last week!

I always forget how energizing that is. It's better than writing and way-way-way better than editing.

I have a few upper-crust characters in this piece, and one of the actors started doing it in a Thurston Howell III accent. Thing is, it's hard to do acting in that accent. We had to switch it up for something more basic.

That's all stuff I can't predict until we get in front of the mics.

@apollo this is what I did last year instead of a dungeon. I made it exactly halfway through the year before the time commitment became too much. I'll say this, as far as takeaway lessons: I focused on a few entry types based on the system I was working with. Might be more sustainable to be less restrictive of the types of entries made. New item, new legend, new character, etc.

@apollo I'm proud of what I made and it was fun, but every day sitting down and figuring out a new location or faction that fit into the blank spaces of the world I was building, made sense in a hypothetical commercial project, and didn't feel like a rehash of a previous entry, just got harder and harder. By the end I was sitting there for nearly an hour each day. Some days I did rewrites of prior entries but even that felt uninspired eventually.

@apollo it needs more polish and some mechanical statting before it gets to a "final" state to my satisfaction, but the major shape of it is there. Whether or not it's fun or interesting is a qualitative issue and since I'm not developing it commercially I'll leave it unanswered.

(I use cream of chicken soup instead of cream of mushroom, and add a can of water, which is not part of the recipe but trust me it's good.)

Edit: i see I did not mention green beans. We added them last time we made this and not only did it break up the unappetizing mushy brownness of the rest of it, but it's also nice texture of flavor.

Let me know if you think of anything else to add. I feel like it needs something. Green beans definitely takes it most of the way there. Celery slices would probably work too.

Ooh my wife had the idea to top with cranberry sauce, that's something too.
