about https://mynoise.net/ a collection of sound generators. I've really liked the Stormy Weather and Sleeping Dragon trying it out today.

Discovered it via @aaronbieber 's blog post https://blog.aaronbieber.com/2021/01/10/entering-flow-state-with-mynoise.html, thanks for writing about it!

That feeling when you are running a bit late so you rush to your bus stop to find the one bus that services your route passing by your stop several minutes early, and you left your bike at home that day. Oops! Luckily I have other options than a very long hike back, but I wish we weren't in such a chicken/egg problem of ridership/service so my metro could offer more than one a day per direction hit times on more routes (and more routes in general).

For Europeans wanting to remove their data from , wouldn't a GDPR deletion request do the trick? I wish we had real data privacy laws in my country.

#emacs #logseq anyone have a working setup with logseq (in orgdown) and #orgroam playing nice in logseq's folder (orgroam dailies in 'journals', etc)? Currently my vault is a mix of org and md but I'm hoping to at least get the org files recognized while I work on converting the md (or figure out #mdroam). I tried playing with org-logseq but even though I'm matching correctly on its grep for the folder and I have title properties I couldn't get it working after a good attempt. #askfedi

I remember someone posting awhile back about a extension that collected feeds as you browsed, but I can't seem to find it anymore in the mastodon search or in Firefox's extension search. Anyone know of such an extension?

#emacs is such a rabbit hole. I spent too much time playing with my Android setup with the #fdroid version and Unexpected Keyboard and it works surprisingly well. I'm going to need to either build myself or use the sourceforge release since fdroid doesn't have gnutls, and likely the termux compatible build as I'll likely need more packages. Eventually I'll try syncing up with my desktop config. I still don't fully understand why the f-droid version is stuck at the Feb build...

I finally finished my initial pack of German made Van Der Hagen safety razors and instead of just buying another pack of one kind I got a huge multipack of many brands. Going to start with a 5 pack of Egyptian made Shark Super Stainless Blades tomorrow. The Van Der Hagens have been pretty great, long lasting (its taken me months to go through a 5 pack), and easy to use, and are easy to find in the midwest. It'll be interesting to see how they compare.

https://wttr.in is a neat project to get an forcast, useful just as a low resource web app, shell+curl script, etc. Check out the docs for how to set it up https://wttr.in/:help .

It was really difficult today to not go on a rant about the significant synchronization costs of a large mandatory in-person meeting without an agenda or evidence of forward planning. Somehow I managed just making this toot.

Only two months till I've been on the fedi for a year. I really should put together an intro/pin post and update my description. What type of things do you like to see in those?

Another / newbie question:
When the cursor is on a post in one of the timelines is there a way to quickly open/expand the post's thread in another buffer window instead of expanding the thread in the current buffer window?

My current strategy is to duplicate the current timeline buffer window using C-x 2 then switching to the second window using C-x o then pressing the thread command T. Is there a better way to speed that up with less commands? Maybe a macro?

Any gurus able to get mastodon.el running? I was able to add my mastodon-instance-name and my user id as mastodon-active-user to my ~./.emacs file, and opening m-x mastodon generates this in my messages (and I see a ~/.emacs.d/mastdon.plstore file created):

Contacting host: mastodo.neoliber.al:443
Saving file /home/.../.emacs.d/mastodon.plstore...

Lincoln Park's "In the End" popped on my playlist today and I wondered what year it came out. Its almost 24 years old :boo_hoo: !

We're the nearly same time from the song as it's release was from Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody!

I find it sad that people can (righteously) hate on Fahrenheit for not being an international standard and mostly only understood in the US but then in their next beat try to argue for their local ddmmyy or otherwise nonsense numeric date formatting (eg mmddyy) not realizing they are using a date format equivalent. If you want to use local formatting, write the months with a full year, or use the standard. 010203 is nonsense; Jan. 2 2003 and 2 Jan. 2003 are clear, 2003-01-02 is best.

Not the best use of my time, but I watched the Sen. Britt's GOP response to the SOTU. Here's my summary:

  • She complained about the border issues, but failed to point out her party isn't voting for the bipartisan bill that could really help solve root causes.
  • She mentioned being worried about her daughters not having the same freedoms, yet failed to mention that she and her party are the ones creating most freedom limiting bills. 🧵 1/3

Reminder - many states are voting in their primaries tomorrow and most are later than today. No matter your views about the near-predicatable presidential primaries, important local elections are also on the primary ballots, including many that might be decided before the general elections. Please look up your state, register if you haven't, and when you're next able. https://ballotpedia.org/Statewide_primary_elections_calendar

I really hate daylight savings time changes. They're such a stupid waste of so much time by so many people for such little gains of questionable worth and so many negative secondary effects. Can we please choose one way or the other? I have a preference but I'd throw that out if we can agree to stop this weird painful 20th century practice.

I got in a rabbit hole looking into why md tables weren't formatting in . Glitch's markdown render, RedCarpet, does allow markdown tables, but Glitch nor does the downline fork ( ) running my instance enable it. I'm not entirely sure but it looks like the extensions object at https://github.com/glitch-soc/mastodon/blob/8c76a208ed30cc1bd54262302b2aed27ae142509/app/lib/advanced_text_formatter.rb#L106 simply needs to have a property "tables:true" added to make it work. I'll have to open an issue when I finally get past GH's horrible anti-alias policy.
