extremely niche rec, but i'm having such a good time working with sunfiretesting.com for tangara's EMC work. great mob, hugely recommended.

@jacqueline I talked with Tim and got a quote from them during my shopping process and I would probably go with them for my next project that requires testing and certification.

On the other hand, I might just never do another project that requires testing and certification, lol

I know 60 down and 20 up sounds wildly slow to everyone outside the US, but frankly I'm just shocked that I can do that on DSL over POTS wiring that hasn't been updated in 30+ years. Two 30AWG copper wires are streaming HD hentai into my house? Seems pretty futuristic to me.

@bobmcwhirter I'm just a little too far outside the city limits. Pizza delivers here, but broadband does not. The only other options I have are satellite and 5g. I'm somewhat tempted by Verizon's home 5g service, but Brightspeed has been cheap and reliable, so I'm hesitant to shake things up for a radio based provider.

@bobmcwhirter Yeah, they changed it last year I think? Maybe the year before? It was CenturyLink when I got it

I will not be making it to the @oshwassociation summit, due to the unfortunate, but my work will be there! Find Nate and ask him about his differential GNSS rangefinder, if FedEx gets their shit together, he might even be carrying it around!

@rglenn I would love to, I miss the Supercon crowd! It doesn't seem likely, though.

@recursive This year is for sure the year that I install gas logs in the fireplace

@recursive Yeah, that's something I've considered, too.

CEO sends out "look at these cool customers" email featuring Blue Origin and some drilling machine company. Says, "Never forget what we do here."

Bro, if I couldn't forget about this segment of what we "do here," I'd be unemployed.

Valve control test on the O2 concentrator is making me optimistic. Next is the full pressure test!

North,
@North@chaos.social avatar

Pressure test went well, safety valve works, it seems like the solenoid valves are working properly, but I need to get a fan on the condenser before I can run long enough to troubleshoot. I may be at the point where I can start adjusting the stage timings!

I love assembling a DIN rail. Finally working on the O2 concentrator again.

New vacuum system controller is finally assembled. This time, I went two layers of PCBs and used 3D printed masks to isolate the LEDs. What a glow up.

Finally decided to use the wiki to find the stages where my last 50 or so stars were. Glad I did, there were some stages I was never going to find organically. For instance, the only way to get to one was a small chance that you would get warped there by the entrance for another area inside of a stage. Even knowing it was there, I had to reset the stage several times to get the warp.

Overall B3313 v1.0.1 is absolutely a killer SM64 hack if you like spooky/unsettling N64 stuff

North,
@North@chaos.social avatar

It's mostly exploration and discovery, not crazy platforming or kaizo. It's creepy, sometimes in a campy and cheesy way but mostly in an unsettling and spooky way. If you're not a completionist, then you'll probably have the most fun, but even if you like to collect stars... I mean, there's 450 of them!

It's also fun learning how to navigate a massive, non-logical, labyrinthian, space like the B3313 overworld, if you're into that kind of thing.

North,
@North@chaos.social avatar

It's also a great way to experience the work of a lot of different Romhack creators, because so many people worked on it.

That said, play one other hack beforehand maybe, just so you're used to the camera and the move set and you don't have to think too hard about moving Mario around.

North,
@North@chaos.social avatar

If the dialogue boxes took themselves a little more seriously and the story made a little more sense... and if they put some in-game resources for pathfinding... and if they removed Moto's Factory (an awesome stage but it just doesn't fit the rest of the hack) then it would be a 10/10 hack for me...

Also, it would be nice if they added a modern camera alternative, because vanilla cam sucks.

But yeah, totally sick hack. I played like 250 hours between 0.7 and 1.0.1
