People really want a safe space for rationalizing unsafe behaviour in an airborne, disabling pandemic and they get very upset when you don't give them it.

Shit's actually really so horrific right now. You can only look at it through your peripherals if you want to maintain your sanity.

Screaming non-stop would actually be an appropriate response.

Herd immunity will be achieved once everyone has all variants of SARS-COV-2 simultaneously.

Do your part: huff some daycare air.

April fools doesn't work anymore because reality is already so frustratingly and painfully absurd

@eniko The West Coast Trail app made a post about partnering with Amazon delivery service to bring hot meals to hikers wherever they wanted on the trail using drones.

I believed it. I was so mad.

But I believed it immediately because the timeline is so fucked, it was just too easy to accept.

I just watched someone on YouTube explain that they're pulling back from their usual content because their central nervous system is going haywire and they don't know what's wrong.

I mean, it's not always COVID, but it seems like I've seen too many of these kinds of videos lately.

I'm at the point where the prospect of a bird flu pandemic gives me hope. Maybe if EVERYONE is dying IMMEDIATELY they'll do something.

I know. I know.

They won't.

But one can dream.

@invadersil Not yet, but I am going to now. Damn that looks good.

Sharing this because, while I don't like things being killed, carpenter ants will make your house fall over eventually.

Exterminators have a vested interest in not actually solving the problem. Here's how you ACTUALLY do it (and it's not intuitive):

  1. Take a shop vac with no bag in it and fill it with a rough 6:1 mixture of icing sugar and Borax.
  2. Try to find the nest, ideally. You will want to do this anyway because they are eating the frame of your house. You need to replace the wood where they've been if you don't want the house to collapse.
  3. Open the wall/ceiling and suck up as many ants as you possibly can.
  4. Open the vacuum and release the ants.

The ants will go back to the nest and clean each other off. The nest will die over a few weeks and they won't ever come back.

“When drivers fail to yield for pedestrians, it’s not because they can’t see them, it’s because they don’t care.” Kudos to @VisionZeroYVR for this brilliant intervention. https://dailyhive.com/vancouver/bricks-vancouver-crosswalk-pedestrian-safety #TheWarOnCars

PacificNic,

@reinhilde @jay_chi @VisionZeroYVR @jamesglave Yup. And not only that, but stopping at red lights and stop signs for cyclists can be far more dangerous than running them because people driving around while on their phones have a habit of crushing waiting cyclists from behind.

Just because they don't follow rules designed for cars doesn't mean they're being reckless. If people didn't have such little regard for the lives of cyclists, maybe we wouldn't have to operate our legal, 2-wheeled road vehicles so defensively.

I love N95s. It's amazing we can wear these things and come face to face with someone who is infected with the most contagious virus known and just not get sick.

I wish more people could appreciate how incredibly lucky we are to have access to technology like this.

I just saw a video where someone said they are gluten intolerant but sourdough is very low in gluten so they can eat that.

I feel a need, therefore, to clear this up.

NO. No no no it's not.

It's low in FODMAPS.

YOU ARE NOT GLUTEN INTOLERANT IF YOU CAN EAT SOURDOUGH AND DRINK BEER.

You have IBS. 🌈

My vote is "societitis".

An unmasked worker at my grocery store is telling everyone at the checkout, in a raspier than normal voice, how her husband is in the hospital with double-kidney failure from a "bad flu".

I think she wanted sympathy, but here she is dooming others' families to the same fate.

Here's hoping this isn't it for me.

I'm curious:

Considering alcohol intolerance doesn't seem that uncommon in long COVID, what about intolerance to essential prescription medications?
