Enthusiastic member of the all-powerful bike lobby and sinister zero covid communist. Motivational doomer. World-renowned avoider of restaurants and public indoor spaces. Very weak, yet omnipotent neurodivergent hermit.

Fuck capitalism and big trucks/SUVs.

WARNING I swear a lot.

People my age complaining about small font size... More people than there should be.

"However, both sick and apparently healthy patients may suffer from various retinal complications which may lead to loss of vision as well. No consensus regarding management of retinal complications with anticoagulants or anti-inflammatory medications have been proposed; however, they may be tackled on individual basis."

Irregular reminder that Rule 34 of SARS-COV-2 is universally true:

If you can think of it, COVID causes it.

PacificNic,
@PacificNic@zeroes.ca avatar

Seriously. Think of some kind of medical issue or condition and do a Google Scholar search for "scientific name of that issue". AND "SARS-COV-2".

I'm yet to be ¿disappointed?

@PacificNic @Lorrrraaaaine @DaywalkingRedhead 💧️ nic, I would stay away from "addicted to COVID" if I were you — I get the feeling that the reckless would weaponize it against us for our "addiction" to "COVID" (read: infection control)

I know a COVID-cavalier 33 yr old now getting tests done for osteoarthritis based on an x-ray and an "injury that won't heal".

"Subsequently, the impact of SARS-CoV-2 on the initiation of endothelial and adipose tissue dysfunction was analyzed and compared to early OA. The same concept was applied to analyze neuronal sensitization in COVID-19 and OA. A large similarity between COVID-19 and OA patients was observed regarding endothelial and adipose tissue dysfunction and neuronal sensitization. The SARS-CoV-2 induced changes were mainly attributed to the expression of ACE2 on the respective cells, the disruption of the (local) RAS, and inflammation. Moreover, disruption of the RAS itself could also give rise to musculoskeletal problems."

One thing I've learned about our society: if you GOTTA murder somebody (don't do that) make sure you're hitting them with a vehicle while they're walking or biking (don't do that). Way better chances of getting off completely scot-free*.

If you can do this while rich, booze is also optional

I'd probably be back in school right now if there were more quality options for distance learning and credentials.

Universities, colleges, and institutes of technology are leaving a lot of money on the table.

I have a special talent (that is very teachable) that I can stop my hiccups on just the focus of thought and it’s instantaneous.
It would go on and on if I didn’t just focus a second. I just had them and I even amaze myself how fast I can stop them with just focused thought.

I have taught two other people to do it and it worked right away. They were amazed.
I think I learned how to focus and relax my body for pain management & healing & it became something I could just do.

PacificNic,
@PacificNic@zeroes.ca avatar

@JoBlakely I can do that too, but it only lasts for a few seconds until the next hiccup.

Most people want to wear respirators to protect themselves, but they don't because they THINK everyone else is judging them.

People are digging their own graves because they believe something that isn't true. It's literally just inertia and a few super loud assholes.

Wearing a respirator isn't hard.

Getting sick all the time is. Being disabled is. Saying goodbye to your spouse and kids as they prep you for intubation is. Rehab for a stroke is. Watching your parents die from a virus they caught from you is. Growing up without a mom or dad is.

But wearing a respirator isn't hard.

What really gets me about that trash NPR article written by a gaslighting POS is that her entire gripe is that she can't eat INDOORS at restaurants.

THAT is what she deems an acceptable trade for the death of her husband.

What the fuck is wrong with "ordinary" people?

PacificNic, to random

One thing I like about COVID cautious people is that they take a hard line on morals and emotional boundaries.

Too many people are overly flexible about the acceptability of harm to others.

If you don't mask, why do you think it's acceptable not to wear a mask in public, shared indoor spaces?

Is it because you think it's okay that it "only" affects the vulnerable?

If so... I have news for you...

And oceanfront to sell you in Alberta.

The sexualization of female musicians is actually super bizarre. It would be funny if it wasn't so fucked up.

Just trying to imagine Chad Kroeger posing suggestively while scantily clad for a Nickelback album cover makes me laugh.

Why stop with music? Why don't we have soft porn glamour shots for authors and famous painters, too?

If it's relevant, it's relevant, no?

I'm investing everything I have.

@dan613 @LeftistLawyer I actually thought it was non-DST that everyone hated based on my sample size of 1 (me), because I love the later evenings.

I get that the time change is unpopular. I hate it.

But is it actually DST people hate, too?

After doing some conversions to account for people that do mask, these are the results of my poll of 461 people, and I think it's pretty damn interesting:

91.5% of non-maskers would mask if it was normalized. That number is made up of the people that answered "yes" (63.8%) or "partially" (27.7%) to the question:

"If masking was totally normalized and everyone did it, would you feel relieved and choose to mask in public, shared indoor spaces?"

65% of people that answered "partially" said it was because they still wanted to visit bars and restaurants, which is incompatible with mask-wearing.

Only 8.5% said they would not mask, even if it was normalized.

Here's the thing about white men griping about affirmative action being "unfair":

If you have two candidates with equal qualifications and one candidate is a member of a visible marginalized group and the other is a cis white male, chances are the candidate who has had to overcome significant systemic barriers and hostility to obtain the same qualifications and experience is the better candidate, actually.
