Enthusiastic member of the all-powerful bike lobby and sinister zero covid communist. Motivational doomer. World-renowned avoider of restaurants and public indoor spaces. Very weak, yet omnipotent neurodivergent hermit.

Fuck capitalism and big trucks/SUVs.

WARNING I swear a lot.

Remember when conservatives hated "communist Russia"?

I remember it like it was yesteryear.

Don't let them call it something fun and cute like the "Roaring 20's", again.

I’m hearing an increasing number of people say they won’t even discuss common sense Covid mitigations because they’re so angry about the restrictions placed on them at the beginning of the pandemic. Their anger is literally preventing them from protecting themselves and others.

I often ask if they’ve considered how angry they will be if Covid disables them and places permanent restrictions on their body? Especially knowing it was preventable. I’ve yet to get a good answer.

PacificNic,

@kmck @broadwaybabyto @NilaJones I 100% agree. This isn't organic anger.

It occurs to me that most people probably still think they're "better" than anti-vaxxers.

They're not.

Not if they aren't masking.

Late-comers to fascism don't get brownie points for abstaining from eugenics a little longer.

Maybe we ADHDers should carve out a profession teaching all the COVID victims how to cope with loss of executive function and working memory.

We are experts, after all.

One of us should do it.

Later.

If you have ADHD, it's hard to explain to (cishet non-ND) non-ADHDers the Othering you experience at every step of seeking treatment to correct an executive function neurocircuitry aberration/variance.

From day one I've received feedback about my hyperkineticism, hyperverbality, impulse control, inability to follow multiple step tasks, my reactivity, rejection sensitivity.

And people wonder why I've only finally found peace working remotely & by cutting out my parents from my life.

PacificNic,
@PacificNic@zeroes.ca avatar

@hannu_ikonen Add to that the whole process of trying to get help and support is about as inaccessible as it possibly could be for someone who has ADHD.

PacificNic,
@PacificNic@zeroes.ca avatar

@hannu_ikonen I'd be totally fucked if my parents hadn't done all the work for me.

If you have ADHD with more severe executive dysfunction and no support network, good luck not ending up homeless.

PacificNic,
@PacificNic@zeroes.ca avatar

@renegadejade @hannu_ikonen I have to work hard to remember to take my damn pills, but I'm still treated like an addict. Appointments every three months to make sure I'm not suddenly addicted to the medicine I hate, but need in order to avoid being fired.

PacificNic,
@PacificNic@zeroes.ca avatar

@hannu_ikonen I'm pretty sure I only finished university out of spite and trauma from elementary school.

Edit: And rage

There's a reason people shit on the humanities. People trained in the humanities know how to think.

A real education makes them mandatory.

PacificNic,
@PacificNic@zeroes.ca avatar

Business school was where I met the most profoundly unexamined people.

It's indoctrination, not education.

I think it has worsened since I was there.

Thank Dog for ADHD. I dabbled, which is why I didn't spend my 20's gunning for an executive position.

Miasmas was a better theory.

If the people had respirators back during the plague and you told them they bless the air as it enters their lungs, the plague wouldn't have happened.

Yeah, I know they think it spread exclusively by flea bite but I think that's probably ALSO horseshit.

Like, c-mon. THAT many people died from flea bites?

95% of Medical Treatment is just labelling something, I swear.

You realize as soon as you unpack the acronym or know Greek & Latin.

"Oh your chest hurts? Yes, we know about this. It's called Chest-Hurt-itis."

"Oh your brain & liver are inflamed? You have Multiple Inflammatory System Syndrome."

PacificNic,

@NilaJones @subjacentish what will they rename long COVID?!?

Yesterday I tried to explain to J-M about different biosafety levels: “BSL-3 is for airborne pathogens. BSL-4 is for airborne pathogens that people are scared of.”

Covid is level 3. It’s not less infectious, and we don’t have any treatments for its disabling long-term effects. It’s just not as scaaaaary (to the people who make these decisions).

Droplet vs. airborne is also based on feelings: https://mastodon.social/@jmcrookston/112118829709114342

PacificNic,
@PacificNic@zeroes.ca avatar

@elana Did you see they downgraded SARS-COV-2 to BSL-2 for the good vibes?

PacificNic,
@PacificNic@zeroes.ca avatar

@elana So I guess BSL-2 also means, "so scary and airborne that we can't even think about it or we'll melt down."

In some ways, I welcome the extreme limitations in career choices foisted on us by a suicidal, eugenicist society. For me as a person with ADHD, there were way too many options before.

It's also annoying, but there's a silver lining, too.

Here's the thing about RTO: if I'm going to be forced into an unsafe environment regardless, my current job sure as hell wouldn't be the kind of job I'd make that sacrifice for.

If my job is going to kill me, it better be something super fucking fun.

This article largely blames social media for this:

“For the US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, happiness has decreased in all age groups, but especially for the young, so much so that the young are now, in 2021-23, the least happy age group,”

Sure, it’s not the climate crisis, our leaders pandering to the rich, crackdowns on protests, rising autocracy by old white men, skyrocketing housing prices…nah, it’s social media.

PacificNic,
@PacificNic@zeroes.ca avatar

@Greengordon Take away our social support network (social media) and watch it tank further.

I’ve had two doctors mention to me this past week the importance of maintaining good brain health to avoid dementia and Parkinsons-yet neither one mentions avoiding Covid. One was surprised I’ve avoided it this long and didn’t understand how I could maintain that since it’s everywhere.

What am I missing? Why isn’t Covid in their discussions for brain health (and Parkinsons)?

PacificNic,
@PacificNic@zeroes.ca avatar

@GeorgiaOnMyMind Medical practitioners, contrary to popular opinion, are not scientists. They don't do science, they don't read science, they don't believe in science if it isn't endorsed by the CDC.

Doctors are priests and gatekeepers, taught to think of themselves as demi-gods.

My conviction that we're right is unshakeable now, but so is peoples' resolve to pretend things are fine.
