That’s a meaningless comment.

What “democrats”? Even Biden is softballing the issue even if he isn’t outright condemning it (as he should, the bastard should call it genocide). I’ve never seen any Dems here or on Reddit saying it isn’t a genocide. If you’re referring to the few at the top that refuse to call a spade a spade, yeah…that’s plural “democrats”, but overall nobody is defending “genocide”, but some fools are mealy-mouthing the ridiculous overreaction by Israel.

RememberTheApollo_,

He refuses to call it a genocide. He condemns some of the Israeli actions, as inadequate as that is.

RememberTheApollo_,

That’s because of the good old boys club making sure the ICC doesn’t start grabbing “western” leaders. Not because of genocide. Make no mistake that they place themselves above any one country’s actions.

RememberTheApollo_,

No, it’s dependent on being a powerful and wealthy nation that uses their flex to ensure they can continue to get away with what why want. If your part of that club you began invade all kids of countries like Iraq, Afghanistan, and whoever else and nobody can actually do anything about it. However, if you’re the leader of some tiny country on the losing end of doing dirty deeds, you get a bomb in your lap or hauled off to some prison, like Noriega.

This isn’t rocket science, “western” refers to a geopolitical standing, and even if Russia doesn’t fit the “western” bill, they nonetheless fall under the “too powerful to fuck with” category.

RememberTheApollo_,

Who the hell is defending genocide?

RememberTheApollo_,

Appeal to hypocrisy?

How about you? Live in a glass house, too?

RememberTheApollo_,

I really doubt it. I mean, I’m all for realistic and effective gun control, but this isn’t it.

(and that’s not a perfection being the enemy of good statement)

RememberTheApollo_,

One of the things I haven’t seen yet is that this may push people to upsize their drinks so McD’s can charge more. If you know you can’t get a refill some may choose the larger drink.

Profit.

RememberTheApollo_,

Looks like they play the same game there as they do in the US. Get most of their income from investment vs actual salary, and of course the investment is taxed less than regular income.

RememberTheApollo_,

Lol, maybe “We don’t change light bulbs. We make you switch back to kerosene lamps.”

RememberTheApollo_,

The misunderstanding is deliberate. That way they have something additional to attack.

RememberTheApollo_,

Mine was an old base model VW Rabbit with 110k on it back in the ‘80s.

Is buying a new car for a teen a “hobby”?

While this may be a car community I think the article is a bit tone deaf because most people think buying a brand new car for a teen is a bad idea on top of the fact that buying a brand new car for a teen is an incredibly expensive venture that most people cannot afford. Not only is the car expensive but insurance premiums on a new car with a teen as the driver are going to be outrageous.

You don’t buy halo or specialty cars that enthusiasts desire for teens, either. At least not for average families.

So this community may be for enthusiasts, but IMO I don’t think this article fits on multiple levels.

RememberTheApollo_,

Uh…what’s that got to do with bikes? Got any stats for teens killed while biking?

RememberTheApollo_, (edited )

I don’t know how you got the idea I was gatekeeping when my argument was the tone-deafness of the article when the vast majority of people can’t swing such an expense, along with the fact that new cars for teens isn’t usually a great idea. It’s like asking what new Ferrari you should buy a teen, it’s every bit as relevant. If people want to buy a new car for their kid IDGAF, but I think most people are interested in a used Miata they can tune and have fun with in an enthusiast group like this vs buying a new car for a kid.

RememberTheApollo_,

You replied to a comment about e-bikes. You lost?

RememberTheApollo_,

The best new car for teens is a new-to-them econobox hand-me-down with 90,000 miles on it.

RememberTheApollo_,

Salt? I’ve never tried that, but it sounds like it would put my teeth on edge. I’ve taken the wedges and dipped them in sugar. Not good for you, but it’s lemonade-like.

I generally only ever read the negative reviews.

You’ve already searched for a product that has the features you want, so you’re probably already looking at the right things for you in the features and aesthetic department.

The negative reviews will tell me things like if the product or parts of it failed or broke. If it doesn’t do the job very well, lacks power, accuracy, etc. If a keyboard, is it loud? Fatiguing? Are the keys replaceable? Do they keycaps wear and become illegible? How “sloppy” are they? If it does fail, is there customer service? How many people get DOA items? How many bad reviews are for dumb things like color or buying the wrong product for the job?

So see what people disliked about the product you think looks shiny and pretty before buying.

Parrot, probably the African Grey. Because you can talk. Being a talking bird with a heck of a vocabulary asking to get a message to the president is probably going to get the White House social media office’s attention, and maybe then the president.

Kinda cheating, but that would probably work.

RememberTheApollo_,

He’s lined his kids up behind him to take the reins. We’ve already got Lara Trump as co-char of the RNC. It’s a takeover. From the party to the judiciary to even local level politics.

Why the F does this man deserve any more airtime than he already gets? It’s too much already.

But one insider says audiences may find “The Apprentice” to be an oddly humanizing portrait of a man vilified by half of the country.

While the same man seeks to dehumanize a big chunk of the country.

Yeah, not sure this guy deserves a movie, even one that doesn’t try to polish a turd very much.

RememberTheApollo_,

Around half the countries in the world are authoritarian, so that probably has something to do with it.

RememberTheApollo_,

Restaurants are getting really expensive. Even “budget” fast food like McD’s has skyrocketed. If we go out to eat I have to cringe at the bill (and the ridiculous tip that we still can’t get rid of despite rising costs) at the end of the meal.
