Incidentally, if any local bod accidentally left this at mine, you can have it back.

I would give it to charity, but I doubt they'd know what to do with it. It's pretty solid and would be a waste to throw out.

I have a Green Power Electric Boot Scooter BH220. I need to remove the battery. Green Power won't tell me how as they want to charge for an engineer to come out.

It has a handle and I'm meant to be able to take it inside to charge it. I was shown how to remove it when I first got it, but I can't remember. I can lift w/handle, but it feels stuck at the front end. How do I release it? #Mobility #disabled #MobilityScooter #Repair

Struggling to find an answer to this question on search:

My bicycle's back wheel won't roll backwards.

It isn't that it won't spin freely exactly - it spins fine forwards. It's just that when I try to roll the bike backwards it will not turn.

It's not to do with the pedals. I am talking about just rolling it along the ground. It used to work fine.

It's not an electric bike.

Can anyone recommend a good #EMDR therapist for online treatment? I'm trying to research it on my own and it's exhausting. A testimonial from someone saying 'this one knows their stuff and isn't a dick/is easy to talk to' would really help. The ones I've found don't seem to offer sample sessions like other therapists. The last therapist i approached did have a sample session and was awful, so I'm wary.

So, the admin people at my doctors are high on power and utterly clueless.

In response to my email asking them to provide a medical certificate for my ESA application they pissed about for a few days and then sent an email that just says: 'Usually for this sort of thing, we get sent a form for completion by the patient. What sort of certificate have you had in the past?' instead of forwarding it to my doctor.

Absolutely horrified to learn that Angry Robot were going to feed stories from open submissions into Storywise for 'sorting'.

The AR I used to have close ties to no longer exists. The people I knew have moved on&I haven't edited for them for years, but, for a while, they gave me a connection to the publishing community that was incredibly valuable. That AR would do something so tasteless and immoral puts a terrible taste in my mouth.

Rereading the Prologue of the Fellowship of the Ring is reminding me how very badly the Peter Jackson films got hobbits wrong by excessively cutesifying them. Tolkien emphasises that although easy to underestimate, and enjoyers of nice things, hobbits are tough and perfectly capable of being badasses. They are small people, not overgrown children.

I'm glad that that Guardian article ppl are passing around today encourages vaccination, but it unfortunately contains misinformation that states prior infections and previous vaccinations (more than 6 months ago) already provide good protection. They just don't! Not if it was over 6 months ago, and not against Long COVID, which is a risk that goes up with each infection.

I cannot, therefore, in good conscience, boost it.

Which pisses me off because we NEED more national coverage of this!

I have accumulated such ridiculous amounts of money in #BG3 I just dropped like 20,000gp on fancy arrows, potions, alchemy ingredients, and spells, because I'm approaching the end.

I have barrel upon barrel of gunpowder and fireworks in a trunk.

Be warned, it took a lot longer for me to complete than they advised, I guess because I had a lot to say in the free-text fields, but I imagine we all would. You can stop and start at any time as long as you finish in 2 weeks, though.

Towards the end I found some of the questions enraging, but that's the norm when they talk about mental health.

This is a shot in the dark, but I'm looking for an audiobook on the history and archaeology of Troy/Hisarlik, preferably reflecting more recent academic work than 2011 (the date of the work I've just been listening to). I'm interested in a work by an academic who really knows what they're talking about, not popular history with unexamined bias.

It's OK if it's situated within a broader history of Ancient Anatolia or similar, as long as it covers Troy in detail. Any recs? @bookstodon

This is the length of stick the magpies are trying to build their nest out of.

I did a search on eurasian magpie nests and they do tend to be... spiky, let us say. But I do think these guys are making an unusual hash of it. It's also more of a chaotic mess than the one they made last year.

A large and very messy nest near the top of a tall tree. There's a shadow that might be a magpie in it, but on closer inspection I think it's just a shadow.
