@ShaunOttawa @shawnhooper sometimes I think Google knows I don't like it, so it makes their products perform terribly for me. Then I realize, it's not just for me...

@grmpyprogrammer @pixelfed I still haven't built a commander deck. It's been legacy for me since day one. Warming up to the idea, though the thought of single cards intimidates me... 😅

@treyfordham @ironicbadger I'd love to see server config files for NixOS. I'm slowly setting up Proxmox, but also just (finally) installed NixOS on bare metal.

Okay , I'm a decent , and kinda get the concept. However, I'm having trouble making the mental switch from procedural code. I end up writing static calls to classes... 😅

I work, on and would love a good resource/course on making the final switch. I know there are times for each style, as they are just tools in the toolbox. But I want to be able to have my brain think in that manner.

I've seen some great posts, but they end up being quite terse for me.

@Crell Thanks for sharing this information. I've read this article and others of yours in the past. Very useful! I think I may need to start with a simple project and build from there. I'm generally trying to refactor my code and that may be part of the problem.

@system76 I played with an early version of this! Really fun and quite handy to teach about rainwater water harvesting and contour lines.

“Stop writing a bulleted list in the block editor" is the new “Exit Vim”

😬

Edit: OK, it KINDA works, but you can also get trapped in "new item" mode somehow (see screenshot).

Also… how do you convert just the last bullet item to a paragraph? Seems I can only convert the whole block?

More paper cuts. 😢

Sergio,
@Sergio@fosstodon.org avatar

@ross haven't tried this, but maybe Ctrl + Enter?

Anybody running a desktop environment on the same machine as ? Because of space/location constrains, I'm wanting to have the same computer run Proxmox and KDE. I know it's not recommended, but if I can make it work relatively securely and dependably, it would make my setup much easier.

I won't be upset if you Boost 😅

Sergio,
@Sergio@fosstodon.org avatar

@AngryAnt @uberduck Did you install Proxmox on top of Debian, or a desktop env over Proxmox? 🐓 || 🥚

Sergio,
@Sergio@fosstodon.org avatar

@AngryAnt @uberduck Yup, pretty dense... I didn't catch what was being said. If I did go the VM route, I assume only one VM can use the GPU pass-through at a time? I see the benefit of this being I could potentially VNC to them from remote locations?

Sergio,
@Sergio@fosstodon.org avatar

@uberduck @AngryAnt Oh! I get it. The VM is used as if it was the host computer. Because you pass the GPU and mouse/keyboard to it. 🤯

Sergio,
@Sergio@fosstodon.org avatar

@AngryAnt @uberduck So I had to get a different video card, since my original AMD one had a reset issue. Not rolling quite dependably with a VM with GPU passthrough. Now I'm learning that the amount of memory you assign it can't be shared. I was really hoping to be able to have shared RAM so Proxmox can utilize it to the fullest. I may stick with this or try to look into doing similar things with an LXC. If that's even possible.

Sergio, to proxmox
@Sergio@fosstodon.org avatar

How far can the virtualization go? Can I run everything in Proxmox? Router, wireless AP, firewall, DNS, VNC, web, reverse proxy, media, NAS... I'm thinking yes? Has anybody virtualized their router and wireless AP?

Sergio,
@Sergio@fosstodon.org avatar

I have a pretty beefy desktop coming soon and would love to avoid a multiple hardware setup. Not trying to have a mini rack with all the things. Thinking a robust firewall and vlan configuration may work for most/all my needs.

Sergio,
@Sergio@fosstodon.org avatar

Okay, will keep my ddwrt router in front of the server 😅

Sergio,
@Sergio@fosstodon.org avatar

@AngryAnt excellent point! I'll do both. Keep my router and use a virtualized one for proxmox internal routing.

Okay I'm gonna for help. This may be just a dense question buuut. I have setup in a Dell Optiplex 7040m, micro format. So it's quite small... I am now realizing I'd like to have some kind of a NAS/backup setup.

Is there any kind of way to add several hard drives to this machine? Manual claims usb3.0 at 5gb/s. Maybe I add 4 SSDs that way?

@dustinrue 47G but that's because my Documents, Downloads, Music, Pictures, Videos, VMs, and Web directories are on a separate (linked) drive. Otherwise add another 560G to that number 😊

I'd love a little help. I've heard you can set it to only accept requests for a site from certain IPs. Is that correct? I'd like to configure it to only allow/forward the connection from Cloudflare's IPs. So I can have the "orange cloud" proxy on and make things a bit more secure for a server I'm setting up. This would be on a router, but that shouldn't make a difference.

When rat tail radish cross-pollinates with watermelon radish, this is what it happens.

So much for seed saving. :blobcatnotlike:

I just grew rat tail radish for the first time, good stuff. I did plant far too many at once, but worth it. Didn't think about cross polination with my watermelon radish. Seems like a common thing to do 😀

We'll see what I get next year...

I just spend a good bit of time setting up a router to use update it's IP () on

It's "built in" but took some time. So for anybody else that would like to try this... Here is the info: 🧵

Sergio,
@Sergio@fosstodon.org avatar

First, I setup the router to use an SSL cert. I'm pretty sure it's self signed, but at least the connection should be encrypted.

Do this by going to Administration -> Management -> Web Access. Then set HTTPS as the protocol.

Sergio,
@Sergio@fosstodon.org avatar

Then you need to create a User API Token in Cloudflare. Give it Zone -> DNS Read and Edit permission for your specific Zone.

Sergio,
@Sergio@fosstodon.org avatar

Now on the router go to Setup -> DDNS and select Cloudflare in the Enable Service field.

Username is your Zone.
Password is the API Token.
Hostname is the domain you are trying to update.
Use SSL needs to be enabled.
