SpikesOtherDog,

The snipping tool.

Guess I’ll need to block that so users don’t accidentally send confidential information to Microsoft.

SpikesOtherDog,

Persona 5 was unplayable for a short time

SpikesOtherDog,

There is still content there. I find myself there often with a lot of web searches.

SpikesOtherDog,

I had to explain this similar concept to a co-worker who always puts his tracking info in his parts orders. He didn’t understand until I started asking him about firearms parts he had been browsing on his own Amazon account.

His links are now sufficiently sanitized.

SpikesOtherDog,

It sounds like a defect.

I would vote (in this order)

  • Bad solder joint
  • Failing chip
  • Bad capacitor

Bad capacitor moves up on the list if it wasn’t happening and is getting more profound or if you are having other stability issues.

While I bet you have had it for a while, thiswould be enough for me to try a warranty claim. The problem could lead to other issues.

SpikesOtherDog,

They probably didn’t and are using the OEM license on a mini PC.

Yes, they are still paying for the license on the cost of the unit.

Yes, it would be much cheaper to use a NUC or ARM board, but you can’t convince an administrator to stake their career on it.

Besides, if they are running a domain, and all their resources are on a domain, why would they use non Windows devices.

SpikesOtherDog, (edited )

We need a new plague

Guess the millennials can cross that one off their list.

SpikesOtherDog,

If you already have a VPN, look into building an arrstack with Jellyfin, sonarr, radar, jacket, flareresolverr, and qbittorrent.

SpikesOtherDog,

“Metonitazene is particularly dangerous because, in the worst case scenario, even a single tablet can lead to death. You can’t tell what narcotics actually contain just by their appearance. Drug users can never know for sure whether the substance they are buying is what it’s claimed to be,” investigation head, Markku Juurikkamäki, said in the release.

en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metonitazene

Metonitazene is an analgesic compound related to etonitazene,[2][3] which was first reported in 1957,[4] and has been shown to have approximately 1000 times the potency of morphine by central routes of administration,[5] but if used orally it has been shown to have approximately 10 times the potency of morphine.[6]

Its effects are similar to other opioids such as fentanyl and heroin, including analgesia, euphoria, and sleepiness.[6][7] Adverse effects include vomiting, and respiratory depression that can potentially be fatal.[8] Because of high dependency potential and dangerous adverse effects it has never been introduced into pharmacotherapy. It is instead commonly used in the illicit manufacture of counterfeit-OxyContin opioid pills.

YSK: If a problem you're experiencing doesn't show up in search results, could be a sign you're looking at the wrong issue

Why YSK: I had this experience this morning. I was raging because the “alt + tab” shortcut had changed on my work computer when it worked fine yesterday. Now it opened the task view, but wouldn’t switch windows unless I clicked on a different program....

SpikesOtherDog,

As of today there is now at least one possible result for alt+tab opening task view and not switching as expected.

Also, learning to troubleshoot logically is a whole skill set by itself. It’s easy to think someone did something, and I believe that many people get stuck with that mentally over logically separating the issue and breaking it down to testable chunks.

Finally, great job solving the problem yourself! Many people would have admitted defeat, but you persevered and learned a few things.

SpikesOtherDog,

I am wondering why there is no open framework for laser printing.

There are a few parts that would have to be made out of sheet metal. The sides could be stamped for the same pattern. You then need a back and a cross section. One could theoretically make them from ABS, but ABS gets brittle with heat and the sides will shatter.

One side of the printer is dedicated to running an ARM SOC. I’m not sure if the Arduino is up to the task, but it will need to control 3 motors, initiate a heating sequence, start a rasterizing laser, interpret a print job, communicate over network and USB, and monitor a bunch of sensors.

The hardest parts will be obtaining print cartridges, rollers, and fusers. Designing a standard to run off a certain vendor’s hardware will be a pile of issues, and nobody will just start manufacturing hardware for a handful of hobbyist printers.

Everything else is 3d printing, springs, and screws.

SpikesOtherDog,

Ding ding ding

For op, ZD means zener diode.

SpikesOtherDog,

it makes things up, it makes no attempt to adhere to reason when it’s making an argument.

It doesn’t hardly understand logic. I’m using it to generate content and it continuously will assert information in ways that don’t make sense, relate things that aren’t connected, and forget facts that don’t flow into the response.

SpikesOtherDog,

Does anyone remember Theranos? I’ll believe it when they provide objective results.

Task management non-existent @steam

SpikesOtherDog,

You can also delay startup of certain applications, if you wish.

SpikesOtherDog,

That’s funny because of how fast Nintendo is to do a cease and desist over their own IP.

SpikesOtherDog,

I passed this comment up and considered it. Many conservatives dearly believe that children are brainwashed by colleges and that there is no reason for higher education.

Couple this with anti science and hate for any art that offends people, and I’m having a hard time believing that harming higher education is NOT a goal.

SpikesOtherDog,

Is it possible that the video isn’t properly encoded in the first place?

Try transcoding to MP4 first and then burning it, even if it is already MP4.

Did you change DVD spindles recently to a new set?

Maybe you unwittingly moved from DVD- to DVD+

Will it play as a DVD on your system?

SpikesOtherDog,

I’m guessing your writer is failing.

Same data

Same media

Multiple os rules out malware, mostly

Without being there to watch and understand your process, I have to assume you know what you are doing and haven’t missed a step in the writing process, such as finishing the disk or whatever. The fact that you are using multiple applications on multiple operating systems lends confidence.

That leaves the hardware itself. Luckily a new writer isn’t expensive.

SpikesOtherDog,

S.1199 - STOP CSAM Act of 2023

This is currently in Congress. The intent is to kill end to end encryption in the United States under the pretense of child safety. If you are in the states, contact your local Congressional representative and tell them to vote against the bill.

I’m surprised there is not more organization against it.

SpikesOtherDog,

Billionaire CEO realizes that he needs investor capitol, tells same story as previous 10 years.
