I did that, not so much anymore after Rockstar published State of Emergency on the PS2 (Am I showing my age? lol) and it was absolute dog shit. Now I tend to wait after day one just to be sure.

You can blame Newt Gingrich for that one, he installed in the R’s hyper partisanship and the idea that they can never let the D’s get a “win”. It carried them to a majority back in the 80’s, and much like voodoo economics, they haven’t changed the playbook since, since it still works.

You tend to get two groups who dislike it. Ignorant folks who think something like no animal stuff means no protein means you shrivel up and die, and the ones who’ve encountered a few too many militants in their time and ain’t interested or are downright sick of their schtick. Vaguely similar to atheism, except replace the animal product stuff with something religion related, ofc.

The game always said psn account required

If folks were required to log in day one we wouldn’t be having any discussion. Instead its months post release they’re putting that requirement in place, so clearly a PSN account isn’t that important. Lots of folks feel like its a bait and switch.

But maybe, just maybe enough folks will review bomb or request refunds to get Sony to backtrack.

50k negative steam reviews in a single day is a pretty good incentive to reverse course. Thats more negative reviews in a single day then a fair amount of games recieve overall. Folks were absolutely not keen on what they viewed as a bait and switch.

As for how much it’ll impact actual numbers I think time is going to be the important factor, more particularly trending players over time… and what happens on the proverbial D-day.
