The only thing I will say about Meta potentially creating an instance on the Fediverse: I think it’s reasonable approach to want to “wait and see” what a new actor will do. Luckily for us, we have 19 years of seeing how Meta is managing a social network. And it’s a big no for me.

Bon, il faut que je vous raconte comment ce sont terminées mes mésaventures avec la Poste.
Après plusieurs allers-retours par messages où je dois répéter la même chose plusieurs parce qu’on ne prend pas en compte mon argumentaire, quelqu’un·e admet enfin que j’ai raison et m’invite à écrire à mon centre financier ou à me rendre en bureau de Poste pour changer ma civilité. Je sais que ce n’est pas nécessaire, puisque j’ai initialement changé ma civilité par téléphone il y a quatre ans et que la première fois où elle avait été modifiée par erreur, il m’avait suffit d’envoyer des messages, mais je décide d’être conciliante et je me rend en bureau de Poste.
Bon déjà, on commence à me dire qu’il faut que je me rende au bureau de Poste qui gère mon dossier. Quand je fais remarquer qu’il est dans un autre département, on me demande pourquoi je ne l’ai pas fait changer.
J’essaye tant bien que mal de recentrer le débat et on m’informe que pour changer ma civilité, il leur faut un extrait de mon état civil ou une carte d’identité à jour. Du coup j’essaye de réexpliquer tout depuis le début sans m’énerver, malgré les interruptions fréquentes.
Le responsable fini par être appelé. Il me dit qu’il ne peut rien faire sans un état civil à jour. Quand je lui dit que c’est faux et que la Poste me genre au féminin depuis 2019 et que la décision MLD-2015-228 est claire sur la question, il m’invite à lui envoyer un courriel avec la décision en me disant qu’il verra avec les services responsables de ce genre de choses lundi.
Je refuse. Je lui dis que je ne bougerais pas de ce bureau de Poste tant que ma civilité n’aura pas été changée. Il me dit qu’il ne va quand même pas appeler la police pour me faire sortir, ce à quoi je rétorque qu’il peut toujours essayer, comme ça je porterais plainte vu que c’est eux qui sont en tord.
Après plusieurs minutes de discussion ou je refuse de céder du terrain, il fini par prendre ma carte d’identité et un papier sur lequel je lui écris la référence de la décision du Défenseur des droits. Quand il revient il me dit que, bon, d’accord, j’avais raison, qu’il a pu avoir quelqu’un·e au téléphone et qu’il a changé ma civilité.
« Mais vraiment, c’est pas la peine de venir comme ça et de nous mettre un coup de pression. »

I've been thinking all day that this is the best / most important possible time to be offloading Twitter users onto Mastodon/Lemmy/KBin/Fediverse/whatever and this is also the exact worst week to be joining Mastodon. Like seriously this last week has been a mess. Maybe this is overthinking it but I don't even know what instance I'd recommend people join because I don't know what I could 100% guarantee would even still be part of the connected Fediverse in another month
