I think it would be really funny if the porn actress talked liked Foghorn Leghorn.

I will always think of this...

It's Natasha Demetriou (What We Do In The Shadows) as an ASMR person saying stuff like "Hello, is that the cheese shop? I'm still waiting for my big wheel of brie." but then switches to her normal voice, which is a load broad Northern voice, which arguably is the UK equivalent of Foghorn Leghorn. Very silly. I also can't stand ASMR.

Incels are so weird, man. Just have a wank or go for a walk. Read a book, play some video games or hang out with some buddies. Rather than planning to elaborately blow up the Olympic torch to demonstrate how much you think it's unfair women don't want to touch you.

Sometimes the way people phrase things is so telling. For instance, telling women they should be "taking care of" their husband and children. Another adult doesn't need taken care of like a child, what you want is for women to be a Sex Mom.

I was about to reply something silly like WHAT ABOUT KARATE, but realised depressingly that some people would think I'm being serious or worse, agree (to which I would immediately respond with a picture of Cynthia Rothrock - the greatest karateist of all time)

Lol - 80s/90s martial arts icon. Cheesy American crossover but done quite well (I thought). Early Michelle Yeoh and some Australian guy who's name I never remember. Sort of the same vibe as early Seagal and some Van Damme. Sort of no plot other than they've been wronged and have to kick a load of people. I'll be honest - it was a weird tangent to go off on. Sorry.

All silliness aside I'm planning a deep dive on all the Rothrock films at some point, as I imagine they hold up quite well. I did all of Van Dammes recently (before he went weird) and thoroughly enjoyed it. They were extremely silly and also - films used to be really short! It's like - where's the exposition? There's barely any. You just get Van Damme has been wronged by evil muscular person for some reason, so he must fight his way to the top. I know that's still sort of the plot for most action films, but it did seem a bit simpler. But I got into The (Roth)rock after early Jackie Chan films and remember her being great.

Scott Adkins is a weird one. I'd sort of dismissed him as being some Z-list action wannabe, but then I watched some of his films - memorably the one where he goes to prison and becomes the hardest man in the world. I then checked out some other stuff and can see he's like the hardest-working actor in Hollywood, so was really thrilled to see his turn in Wick 4 and thought he stole the film. I wish him nothing but good things.

Had some weird dreams… in one I was doing press-ups (something I hate and am very bad at) then later I was building a castle out of mud using my hands, saying, “no habla Español”

I dreamt (dreamed?) very clearly that I had joined 'the Marines' - as I am now - because I'd won over the person in charge by explaining that despite my physical frailties I had a lot to offer. But the other recruits - all very young and fit people - did not accept me as one of their own. And one of the key training tasks was telling a joke to an auditorium full of other Marines by writing it on a blackboard and as we were introduced one by one I was boo'd, then when it came to my turn, I hadn't thought of one and was having a panic, then I woke up and immediately looked up 'jokes about Marines', which there is apparently a big community for and none of the jokes are funny (sorry Marines).

OK. I'm going to stop moaning now. Well done me. I did a good thing I wasn't equipped for and despite struggling I managed to almost keep up and I finished etc. I wouldn't go as far to say I am a legend slash hero, but I did go and do a run that was quite far out of my comfort zone rather than spending the evening drinking wine sat in front of the telly. So that's good I suppose. Now I'm going to sit quietly and read, which is what my body is built for. I can do that. I'm a very effective reader and sitter. One of the very best. If you ever need someone to sit down, I'm your man.

Working my way through the Iain M Banks Culture books. I've sort of read them piecemeal before but I thought I'd read again in order. I'm really enjoying. He writes so beautifully - I used to read and re-read his non-sci-fi books and loved those. Once I'm done I'm going to do a deep dive on Ursula K. Le Guin as I've got a loose plan to read all of the Hugo and Nebula award winning books - I'm about quarter of the way through but I understand she's one of the greats and am looking forward to reading her. I'm following a loose pattern of also working my way through the Hard Sci Fi genre, which I've discovered I really love. What about you?

So, having missed a few weekday runs the last few weeks, I'm taking a hard line with myself and insisting that I go. Unfortunately I've just found out the club changes to cross country in the summer and it is also absolutely bucketing it down. So I'm about to run around some mud in the driving rain like an IDIOT.

I have not! Looks like fun. We nearly went to a running music festival this year but couldn't make it work. But I like that idea. Have you?

I'm off! Wish me luck! I must be mad. I hope this will be a wonderful funny life-affirming experience and not absolutely awful - just running around in a load of mud and rain. Let's find out!

It was extremely unforgiving. Moving up a class AND doing it in horrendous weather AND running uphill through a boggy forest in the dark. I was not prepared for it AT ALL. I just want to go back to running slowly on the road.
